The long awaited "The Jas On Set 2025"! Another wonderful year full of incredible experiences and opportunities. It's a true blessing to continue to have these unexpected adventures. I'm proud of the learning and growth that has come from each of these projects and roles, and I'm proud to share SOME snippets of yet another incredible year! :)

This year, I am thankful to have had the platform to present my research on, 'Adapted Counselling for Indigenous Groups' at my second @cmresearchconference I am proud to say that this was the 6th confrence I have presented work at out of the hopeful many to come. I hope this work serves as a reminder to recognize your individual privileges and use them to listen to, uplift, and advocate for marginalized voices. Take the leap, do the work, and validate the work and research to facilitate true meaningful change in this world.

Abstract:
"As mental health needs among Indigenous populations grow disproportionately and increasingly urgent, it is critical to rethink how counselling can address and honour culture while promoting healing. Addressing mental health disparities in Indigenous communities requires a fundamental shift toward culturally responsive and respectful counselling practices. The purpose of this study was to investigate how counselling practices can respond and be effectively adapted to support the mental health and wellness needs of Indigenous populations in Canada. Our research emphasises the integration of cultural awareness, cultural safety, cultural competence, and cultural sensitivity into therapeutic approaches while working in partnership with Indigenous communities. We explore culturally adapted narrative therapy as a method that aligns with Indigenous values by incorporating storytelling, community connection, and traditional healing practices. This includes collaboration with elders, land-based practices, and ceremonial elements that support holistic well-being. Our research considers the limitations of adapting Western counselling models, which may not fully address the collective, spiritual, and relational dimensions of Indigenous healing. This research provides insight into how culturally adapted care that uplifts Iindigenous voices and is centered around these voices and traditions can be compatible with Indigenous culture and lead to positive outcomes for Indigenous clients."

@rngfest (Raun 'n' Gun) 2025! "Cake and Candles"
This was only my 10th project so far and my 3rd RNG project, and I'm overjoyed to have been brought on to Team Creative Bankruptcy as their Production Designer :)
It truly was special being able to work with and support my homie, RAUN ( @raunuk ), and his wonderful team for their first project outside of coursework. I'm incredibly proud of each of them for overcoming every hurdle and for creating this film with incredible dedication.

As this school year has come to its end, I am filled with pride reflecting on the wonderful things I've learned and accomplished alongside my incredible students. I have had the privilege of seeing each of them build up their confidence, find their voice, and their strength and use it with positive intention to overcome obstacles with grace and achieve their goals. I am blessed to have been able to learn and grow alongside such a special group of students who have inspired me every day with their resiliency, passion, and unique perspectives.
It's always a litte sad when the year ends knowing it is time to part ways, but I am happy that each of these students will continue to inspire me as they go on to achieve incredible things, making the world a brighter place.
I am looking forward to the year ahead and all of the learning to come, all of the growth to be done, and to face challenges I will overcome :) taken in Centre Stage At Surrey City Hall by @jas.notay

Last month, I was blessed with the wonderful opportunity to join my @jumpstartthefilm team for the @sundarprize red carpet screening @landmarkcinemas . How wonderful it was to speak about our work on stage in the panel discussions amongst a group of incredibly talented creators, and to have been able to share this moment on the carpet with my family once again. This was Jumpstart's 4th screening, and it is another one of those special moments that I will carry with me. I feel incredibly blessed and proud that I get to be a part of this world :)

2024 was filled with an abundance of unexpected and wonderful opportunities, adventures, and experiences in every area of my strange and busy life! I feel blessed and grateful to have been able to be a part of yet another years' worth of exciting film projects! This year, I had the wonderful opportunity to work on @jumpstartthefilm for @mamm_vaff and to see it screen at the @wetafxofficial /@weta_digital film festival as well as @iffsatoronto
This project was an incredible and unforgettable experience. I am immensely grateful to have been able to work as a Production Designer on this project alongside this team of remarkable filmmakers and to have learned from each of them

This year, I am proud to share I had the incredible privilege of walking the Red Carpet for @isaffcanada to see my work in last year's @mamm_vaff film 'Hijack' make its international debut on the big screen @landmarkcinemas
I not only had the wonderful opportunity to join my team and speak in the panel discussions, but I had the chance to be a part of Farah Hasan's first ever "Behind The Red Curtain: Fahion in Film" event.
It was such a special moment for me to be able to walk the Red Carpet with my parents (and Tim💪🏽) and proudly share my work with them on the big screen of our favorite theater.
It is a moment I am still processing, and I will never forget
Thank you to everyone who has shared my joy with me and inspired me.

Concept+makeup, styled, shot+edited by me :) -Inspired by the music and story of "Post Human: NeX GEn" *But the Homies can caption this one*
-Allow this to be a continued reminder to find the joy in "inperfection"
-Once again, I am not at all a professional makeup artist, however, whatever I create is born from the joy of curiosity, learning, experimentation, and "imperfection". -Imperfection is perfection when we attach our own meaning and joy to it, including any sort of growth/growth-mindset to it.
-With everything I share, I hope to remind you all of the beauty in exploring what brings you joy. Life is too short to wonder, to ask "what-if", or to worry about anyone else's choices but your own - (unless anyone is actively hurting themselves or others- that's always the exception)
-Though my words may not directly relate to the image you see above, I share them with you because I hope they'd reach whoever may need them as cheesey as they may be to most.

[Look created with layered goldlealf on top of varying mixtures of eyeshadows mixed with coconut oil for easy transfer and greater pigmentation. Outlined with acrylic (I do not reccomend to anyone other than myself) and lip+eyeliner]

Note: Once again, music choices do not have any hidden meaning/feeling attached to it, it's simply music I enjoy by artists I respect creatively (if anyone needed to hear that)

"All hail NeX GEn" -@olobersykes "Fur OnGh" -me
-Concept + makeup - styled, shot, and edited by me! Because the boys have struck again with yet another phenomenally electrifying concept album that has inspired a bit of this little experiment!

-[Makeup done with layered goldflake, my own combinations of various eye shadows+lip-liners blended with coconut oil, shaped with acrylic]
-This is by no means "polished" or "perfect," nor is it supposed to be. I am not a professional makeup artist, but I find joy in experimenting on different surfaces other than paper or canvas and exploring different mediums.
-These looks are done for my own personal enjoyment, experimentation, and learning.
-A reminder to you all that whatever brings you joy does not need to be validated by a final outcome or external feedback (unless it's activey/intentionaly hurting you or someone/something else - Then like don't do that and seek support 🤝🏽)

Note:
1- @simranbhullar05 also said "Fur OnGh"
2- The song is just a song. I enjoy the album for the sake of its story. I listen to song because song sound good 👍🏽that is it. Angry music does not = angry Jasleen.
