This boat makes me fall in love with kayak fishing all over again every time I get in it!

My @wildernesssystems Tactical Pro 128 from @frontenac_outfitters is an absolute fishing machine. Its not made for speed, its built to make fishing as comfortable and efficient as possible, and it does those two things extremely well.

Probably one of the biggest largies I've ever seen come out of this small lake!

And on a @limestonelures 5" Dipstick Neko Rigged. It's not a presentation I use very often, but today I just wanted to try something different than my usual finesse presentations.

It was a 🤦‍♂️ moment...

If we've met a couple times but dont talk often, please help me out, and do me a huge favor. Just reintroduce yourself if its been a while. "Hey Jeff, remember me? I'm Billy!" And even if I didnt remember your name, I'll still say something like, "pft, Billy, I know who you are!" It will save me a lot of embarrassment, and both of us an awkward moment.. and truth is, more than likely, I actually do know who you are, I just might not remember your name...

In my defense, I do a lot of things, where I meet a lot of people. If everyone had their names taped to their foreheads all the time, life would be so much easier for me! I wouldn't have to feel as embarrassed as I often do when talking to someone I've met tons of times, but can't remember their name... even worse, if I find myself in a situation where I have to introduce them to someone, or someone to them..

First time wearing full gear in 26 years 🏒

Hockey was a huge part of my life when I was a kid, but as I got older and my priorities shifted, I walked away from it. Its not like I was a prodigy or anything, I was never destined for the NHL, but I loved it.

Now over two decades later, it has returned through my daughter and her involvement with the Kingston Ice Wolves. Last year was her first time playing hockey, and while I missed the bus on helping the great coaches then, I so longed to be on the ice with her and her team, helping them learn and grow in a sport I had since forgotten.

This year, however, @magdalenakognetx and I both got sorted with everything we needed play bigger roles on her team. Magda is a trainer, and I am one of the assistant coaches to her awesome Head coach!

I knew I would enjoy being on the ice with those girls, helping some of them improve their skating skills and teaching them our beloved game. I never could have imagined just how incredibly fulfilling it was. But it had also been a very long time since I actually played hockey, and even after a number of practices and a game under my belt with the coaching staff, I was still worried about my own hockey skills and how being out of it for so long prior might affect my ability to be the best coach I possibly could for those girls.

So I signed up for the @canadianbeerleague hockey practice. The initial goal was to re-learn hockey, expand on my own skills and learn some of the ways hockey and skills techniques have evolved since I played as a kid, two and a half decades ago. I was pretty nervous about it, actually, and while my age (and fitness level) was painfully apparent, I had a wicked time during the first practice! I was definitely rusty, but I felt like a kid again, and some of that muscle memory wasnt quite as forgotten as I thought.

It didnt take long for the nerves to subside once we hit the ice, with some people who were like me, played as a kid, and some people who have never worn skates before, and some who are there to just have some fun and meet new people.

And it was, so. much. fun.

Snippets of what I've paid to ship real orders that my customers pay ! Flat rate of $10.00 for.

Yes, I realize this means I'm losing revenue on virtually every order. But I'm a consumer too, and I appreciate not having to guess how much shipping an order I want to place is going to cost. So I wanted to offer that same experience, as a token of appreciation, to the people that are helping to keep my little dream going.

It also serves a double function as a convenience factor for me. In the event that Canada Post decides to try and hold another holiday ransom, its easier for me to just use a different carrier for orders that have have already been placed, but not yet shipped.

The more you know!

Where did Limestone Lures come from?

I was fortunate enough to share the stage with Moose and Mark from the @cisa_fishing crew to talk about my small bait brand, my story and some of my products.

In this clip, I give a small snapshot of how I found my passion for fishing as an adult and where the idea for Limestone Lures was born.

All smiles at the Limestone Lures booth this weekend during the @cisa_fishing Kingston Open and @madeincanada_tackleshows expo!

Nearly 100 Random Acts of Kid-ness bags were made, which means I got to hear nearly 100 stories of kids being kind to others!

From helping siblings clean up toys, giving a friend a hug when they were sad, playing with someone new in class on the first day in a new school so they wouldn't be lonely, and everything in between!

So many people that had no idea what was going on stopped into the booth with their kids, many that had never been fishing before. It was always fun explaining the competition to them and their children, specially if they were around during the live weigh-ins!

The only thing better than watching these awesome kids faces light up as they try to think of their best kind act, was seeing kids who have never fished before run back to their parents begging to go fishing right away so they can use their new lures!

I'm so grateful to have this opportunity to share our passion and love of fishing with the next generation.

Who knows, one of those kids whose first experience with fishing started with a story of kindness, might someday be standing on that very stage, holding a trophy smallmouth bass.

Largemouth Bass smokes a Limestone Lures Road Toad within seconds of it landing!

@paddleheads and I spent the better part of the day at a lake that didn't quite pay off, so we decided to head to a different one not far away to end our evening, and that turned out to be the right call!

The @wildernesssystems Tactical Pro 128 has been out for a little over a year now, and it still turns heads when it shows up at the ramp 😎

After the awards ceremony of this weekend pasts Kayak Bass Canada's Big Bass Smackdown, I got to chatting with Dan, a fellow Wildy owner. He mentioned he was considering upgrading from his Recon 120 to something like the Tactical Pro 128, so I told him to take mine for a spin.

I can't say that the next time I see Dan he'll be in one, but it sure looked like he was enjoying it 😀

You can check out and test an assortment of Wilderness Systems kayaks on the water with my friends at @frontenac_outfitters

Had an awesome day at the second annual Kayak Bass Canada Big Bass Smack Down at Charleston Lake! This one uses a unique format where it takes your biggest bass from the morning and afternoon period to make up your 2-fish virtual stringer. There were also prizes for the biggest bass for each half of the day and overall biggest bass!

It definitely switches things up in how you have to strategize and plan your day, specially as conditions change and the fish mood with it. I had a plan with Rick and Alan to make a big run in the morning before the "Lines In" so we could be at a prime spot to start the day.

As in typical fashion for me, however, I got to the launch point later than I wanted to, arriving at about 6:40am, 20 minutes before official lines in at 7.

I suggested Rick and Alan to head on without me since they were already on the water and ready to go, but after I had dunked my Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 in, I saw they were both still floating around. Turns out Alan was having issues with his new motor. We sent Rick out to carry on with the day while I stayed back to help troubleshoot.

By the time we got it fixed, it was about 9:15, leaving us with only 45 minutes to land and log the biggest fish we could before the 10am morning cutoff. Neither of us got anything worth submitting, effectively taking us out of the running for the podium for the rest of the day.

But that didn't really matter. What mattered is that Alan and I were able to get his new motor running so he could enjoy using it worry free for the first time.

There's two things I know for a fact:

1. I would not have been able to focus on fishing, knowing my friend was still back at the ramp, potentially struggling to figure out the problem and;

2. If the situation was reversed, I know Alan would do the same for me in a heartbeat.

My friends are far more important to me than any competition or prizes. And anyways, there was no prize pot more valuable than seeing my best bud as happy as he was to be in his new kayak with a working motor.

Friendship is the best ship.
