A little recap from my time as a Sicangu Eyapaha with the @nativeguitarstour at Meow Wolf in Santa Fe. ✨ Being an Eyapaha/emcee is something I love to do! I love being part of creating a space where our people can come together and share their talents. A huge shoutout to everyone who put their time, energy, creativity, and heart into making this event possible. Events like this take a community and it was an honor to help bring the evening together and witness so much Indigenous creativity, fashion, music, and expression in one space. Grateful for the opportunity to continue stepping into spaces where our people are creating, connecting, and being seen. All love to @nativeguitarstour for kicking off Sante Fe Indian Market weekend at the incredible @meowwolfsantafe !! The team curated a top tier list of performers, designers, models, and artists. Each time that I’ve worked alongside these individuals they have been incredibly kind, professional, and open to the creativity that each person brings. When you support NGT, you’re also supporting every artist on that stage, the DJ, every designer who showcases their work, every model who wears the designs, and every vendor who sets up at these events. It’s so much more than just one org, it’s an entire collective of artists and talent that gets uplifted. I’m so grateful to have emceed for the second time with NGT in 2026. The energy was lit and the lighting was absolutely bad ass!! My friend @djelementaz always has a killer set and keeps the vibes going. These are the only photos/videos I was able to capture but so much love to every designer, model, vendor, performer, and crew member who created a beautiful night! Our hearts are full after gathering in such a powerful way through story, connection, art, and community. Created through a collaboration between Indigenous CC, KONEKTED, and Phoenix Art Museum, this was a shared vision of uplifting Indigenous storytelling, identity, matriarchs, and community in a way that felt intentional. Deep gratitude to the incredible Cara Romero and her family for sharing Panûpünüwügai (Living Light) and reminding us of the beauty, brilliance, resilience, and multiplicity of Indigenous identity and experience. Thank you to the team at Phoenix Art Museum for opening space for Indigenous stories to be felt, witnessed, and honored. A huge thank you to @tiffanylippincott and Kristin for your partnership, vision, and support in helping bring this experience to life. To the @sketchclubcafe , thank you for leading creativity in a beautiful way to capture stories. Thank you to Skoden Coffee and Emerson Fry Bread for nourishing the community, to DJ JMELee for setting the tone and carrying the energy of the evening, and to ARTenders. And to the sisters of Matriarch Mixer, thank you for continuing to build spaces where Indigenous people can gather, connect, reflect, and laugh together. We couldn’t be more excited for this beautiful collaboration! Join us for our First Friday Matriarch Mixer experience in collaboration with the Phoenix Art Museum and the powerful exhibit by Cara Romero, Panûpünüwügai (Living Light) led by sister Jillian Waln (Sicangu Lakota) owner of Konekted. We are the story. We are the light. We are the lineage. Rooted in this powerful theme, visitors are invited to explore identity, resilience, and community through immersive activities, storytelling, and shared experiences. Inspired by Romero’s exploration of light as a carrier of memory, this space is open to all to reflect, participate, and connect through art. What a fun life our little family got to live with you!! 12.5 years, but this past year was the hardest watching you slow down. We travelled less, spent most of our days in the comfort of our home while our long walks became less and less. We had to become so patient with life during this phase. I already miss worrying about you. I miss your little walk to my bed at 2am just to see if I was asleep (I wasn’t because my body knew to wake up as soon as I heard your little nails click on the floor😂) The hikes, the hours of swimming, the miles traveled, the fast sprints that my camera couldn’t keep up with, the long cruises on the dirt roads and the city streets, the friends who became family, the greetings at the door, opening presents every holiday as you tore every box to shreds, the lessons you taught all of the other dogs we fostered over the years, being a big sister to Keya, and the calmness and joy you brought to everyone you met…you taught all of us how to live a slower, kinder, playful, and more adventurous life. The last 12.5 years of life has been built around you and we’ve built our slow, daily habits around each other. I realize now that no matter what happened in life, you were always the reason that I was okay. Now, I feel so lost without your guidance. And now that you’re gone I see how every thought and choice was about you. Even as simple as going to the grocery store..whether it was too hot or not for you to come with me. The constant tears are a reminder that your presence is strong so for that reason, I hope I cry for you until the day I get to see you again. For now, I’m cuddling you in my dreams and reminding you that we will be okay over here. I’ll see you back in the stars again one day. TY for this beautiful experience we got to have with you for a short time on Unci Maka. You can go home now, my sweet M’Tani ❤️ TY to everyone who loved her and stepped up for her when we needed you. by @jilliankris
