The day has finally come - it’s time to build @thebodyimagearchives together!

BIA is looking for your experiences of body image, whether positive or negative! Go to the Lincoln Bio where you can upload an image or video of what has affected your body image and fill out the form with a few questions on how your body image journey has been.

With each experience added to the archive, we will develop a richer understanding of what affects our body image, and start finding the root causes of poor body image so we can finally tackle them head on and try and end the poor body image cycle once and for all.

Muse Diaries:

Where do I even begin! Thanks to @brixtonlifedrawing I got the opportunity to life model in @nationalgallery alongside @brownbodyart and @bexdagless

Posing in one of the UK’s most prestigious art institutions as my thicc, qu33r AF self surrounded by centuries old paintings was indescribable. There was something particularly magic about seeing people who weren’t a part of the class coming in and out, stumbling upon us and watching the curiosity unfold on their faces.

After each class, people applauded us and it took everything in me not to cry. It was so special and so healing.

A few years ago, I life modelled at the V&A. At the time I really thought I knew myself, had worked it all out, and was on the path I was meant to be on. Doing it this time round, I realise just how lost young me at the V&A was. Who I am now was who I was trying to discover all those years ago.

I often say that our bodies are art; what’s also art is coming home to yourself, falling in love with your own skin, being who you were always meant to be. ✨

The discourse is discoursing obviously and so much of it is ‘ha ha he’s gross and fat’ and i just think there’s so much more to work with! The person who’s looks you’re criticising aren’t going to see your comments but your friend who loves you and may be struggling will see that you connect awfulness with body size. Takes the same amount of time to criticise someone’s terrible talent or value system. Let’s do that instead! by @kittyunderhillx

I refuse to give in to the onslaught of discourse that only focuses on how bad people are about bodies right now, because it makes us feel hopeless and that is truly of no use to anyone. We may be in it right now, but we have managed to emerge from it before. We have more power than we think!! Challenge anti-fatness! Resist societal narratives about bodies!
