Every year, @visartsrva serves more than 50,000 central Virginians of all ages and abilities by offering free or affordable access to art, as well as produces one of the best juried art shows on the East Coast (Craft+Design). VisArts also serves as the location for art therapy sessions between kids with cancer and art mentors. It builds community in the best possible ways. I am so incredibly proud to have served as Chairwoman of the 40th annual Collectors’ Night, which was held in May in the newly acquired Fan Thrift building. The event is the longest running live art auction in the City of Richmond. I am delighted to report that we greatly exceeded our revenue goals despite unexpected shifts in corporate giving. I can’t thank the VisArts team enough for the opportunity to serve you, for my co-chair @zacharyhunt33, and to our wonderful committee, what a privilege to work alongside you all. To my artist friends, corporate and in-kind sponsors who so generously donated, thank you for your leadership. Photography | Buying myself a nice, entry-level Canon ten years ago was one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever given myself. It has helped me measurably to be a better stylist, and creative director. It’s so fun looking back on the breadth of subject matter in my projects. by @kkharrishome

What an honor it was to host my friend KK‘s new fabric launch and remnant sale. There are some people that you meet in this world that continuously inspire you. For me, those people tend to be kind, generous, fiercely creative, smart and passionate about life. KK is one of those people. It was also my joy to see the library of her work since launching her first collection on display today. She has strategically grown as a textile designer, weathering setbacks, industry challenges and strives to design pieces that we designers want to use again and again. Congratulations, KK! We kept things simple for Easter this year. Anson helped me set the table with homemade place cards, and I didn’t much mind the haphazard look of toys on the table. No fancy linens, just our everyday vintage restaurant ware and wipeable placemats. Pulled chicken bbq, fried apple cornbread, White House rolls, and “Fast and French” fruit salad. Styling | I styled (or art directed) more than 2,000 images last year alone. I absolutely adore the work. And, yes, I love wearing my signature pinafore on set. As we all wind down for the year, I’m sharing a #christmascocktails recipe originally created by my mom many moons ago. I come back to it every holiday season, adapting it through the years. I have entertained with it countless times as a punch. Omit the amaretto for a less sweet version.

Partridge in a Pear Tree

2oz Pear Vodka
0.25oz amaretto
2oz white cranberry juice (not red)
1-2oz ginger ale
Fresh pomegranate seeds or cranberries for garnish

Add ice to the bottom of a shaker. Add vodka, amaretto, and cranberry juice. Shake 20-25 times. Strain into a @bowglassworks glass over fresh ice. Top with ginger ale and lemon peel. Garnish with fresh cranberries and have yourselves a merry little Christmas. by @kkharrishome
