When I say I have many reasons to be grateful, this right here is one of those reasons. Being a graduate is not just a dream, for me it's to show that regardless of where you are from or the schools you have attended, nothing can stop you from getting what you want. Many people around me including those from in undergrad, didn't know that I'm a past student of @normanmanleyhighschool. Each time there was a need for introduction, once this comes out my mouth people would be looking strangely, simple because it wasn't apart of the famous high schools in Kingston and St. Andrew, and across Jamaica.

I have proven over and over again that no matter the many hurdles that come in my way, one by one, I will cross over. I must thank the many persons who have contributed to this journey whether it's through encouragement, support or in any way possible. I thank you 🙏🙏

To those friends who have become family @odanebrooksja
@ker_kimone @empressshanny @__atherley__ and ofcourse Travis..Thank you very much for the support. To thoss classmates who kept me on my toes @yanikue_mendez @claybolton23 @jilli_hearts you guys don't know how grateful and appreciative I am to you.

Let me also big up @_gavidon @discover_trav @captaintjr ..

I'm pleased to announce that I have been elected as Regional Co-Facilitator for Latin America and Caribbean for the UNEP Major Groups and Stakeholders Mechanism for the 2026-2028 period.

As this is a very challenging time for me (personally) but also for the entire multilateral community, I believe that working together with my regional co-facilitator @maria_jose_lubertino from Argentina to help strengthen civil society voice across the region and in global environmental governance will be impactful.

As I embark on this journey, I am open to dialogue with all partners on all issues relevant to the work on UNEP from Plastic, Chemicals and Waste, Science Policy, Oceans (regional seas, and beyond), Environmental Law, Circular Economy, Sustainable Lifestyles, Minerals and Metals, Adaptation, Climate Action, Ecosystem Restoration, among others.

I'm keep on helping to strengthen UNEP and UNEAs as the key Global environmental governance decision making body.

Let me express my appreciation to Dalia and the team from Juventud Unida en Acción (JUENA) (Youth United in Action) for having the confidence in me and nominating for the role.

I look forward to working with the #UNEP team and other relevant stakeholders especially to the Major Groups and Stakeholders family. Thank you to the former regional Facilitators Alejandro Luque and Xiomara Acevedo for the stellar work done over the last two years.

My work with major groups started with Children and Youth Major Group to the UN Environment Programme which I have been a member for more than 7 years working on different thematic areas and Championing the voice of Caribbean Youth in environmental multilateralism. With this new mandate, I will continue supporting CYMG but also using what I have learnt to help strengthen broadly all major groups within the Latin America and Caribbean Region. by @mario_galbertjm

A quick recap of the recently held Regional Ocean Conservation Youth Workshop convened from July 22-24, 2026 in Kingston, Jamaica 🇯🇲

We were happy to welcome youth from across the region who championed Ocean Conservation. The workshop was designed to continue building capacity and develop our young peoples understanding of the Caribbean Sea and human activities that continue to degrade the marine environment and coastal ecosystems.

Following the 1st Caribbean Youth Environment and Climate Change Conference which adopted the Caribbean Youth Declaration on Environment and Climate Justice, the Caribbean Youth Climate Council continue to take the approach to mobilize our region and strengthen our movements through Policy, Action and community building.

Over the next few months we intend to launch the Emerging Oceans Leaders Programme and continue consultations on the Caribbean Youth Resilience Fund.

Thank you to our supporters for making this convening possible. Until next time #DefendOurOcean

Today, the Caribbean Youth Climate Council (CYCC) celebrates four years of championing youth leadership in environmental and climate action across our region.

What began as a shared vision has grown into a regional network connecting young people from across CARICOM, creating opportunities to engage in policy discussions, strengthen capacity, and contribute to solutions for some of the Caribbean's most pressing environmental challenges.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also reflect on how far we've come and what we've built so far:

🌎 Regional Advocacy – Representing Caribbean youth in regional and international environmental and climate processes.

🤝 Building Partnerships – Collaborating with governments, regional institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners to advance shared environmental and climate priorities.

🎓 Strengthening Capacity – Creating opportunities for Caribbean youth to learn, lead, and meaningfully influence environmental and climate policy.

🌊 Driving Action – Convening the inaugural Caribbean Youth Environment & Climate Change Conference and expanding regional initiatives in ocean conservation and sustainable energy.

But this is only the beginning.

As we look ahead, our commitment remains the same: to ensure Caribbean youth are not simply consulted, but meaningfully engaged as partners in shaping the policies and decisions that will define our region's future.

To every volunteer, delegate, partner, sponsor, speaker, and supporter who has been part of this journey—thank you for believing in the power of Caribbean youth.

Here's to the next chapter of collaboration, leadership, and impact.

Happy 4th Anniversary, CYCC! 🌎💙

The Caribbean's future depends on the health of its ocean. From fisheries and tourism to food security, livelihoods, and climate resilience, our marine ecosystems sustain the region's economies and communities. Yet these ecosystems face growing threats from climate change, plastic pollution, coral reef degradation, sargassum influx, overfishing, and emerging pressures such as deep seabed mining.

To help address these challenges, the Caribbean Youth Climate Council (CYCC) in partnership with Ocean Science and Governance Youth Network and Youth Action Co:Lab are organizing the Regional Ocean Conservation Youth Workshop, which will take place from July 22–25, 2026, in Kingston, Jamaica under the theme "Championing a Sustainable Blue Economy for a Resilient Caribbean."

Building on momentum generated through the inaugural Caribbean Youth Environment and Climate Change Conference in 2025, this workshop will bring together 30 young leaders, advocates, and practitioners from across the Caribbean to strengthen their knowledge of ocean governance, marine conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable blue economy solutions.
