Two representatives from CYCN Grenada recently participated in a conference in Jamaica, gaining valuable knowledge and sharing their perspectives on climatesmart practices, climate action, and ways to mitigate the impacts of climate change.🇯🇲🌎

Throughout the conference, participants collaborated to develop a Youth Declaration, ensuring that the voices, ideas, and priorities of young people were reflected in the discussions and outcomes.

We are especially proud to celebrate our representative, Arian Scott just 16 years old, and the youngest at the time who was given the opportunity to present and represent the voices of young people on an international platform. 🎤🌍

From learning to speaking up, our representatives continue to demonstrate that young people have a powerful role to play in shaping a climateresilient future.

🇬🇩 We are proud of our representatives and the way they represented Grenada and CYCN. Keep leading, learning, and making your voices heard! 💚🌱

A quick recap of the recently held Regional Ocean Conservation Youth Workshop convened from July 22-24, 2026 in Kingston, Jamaica 🇯🇲

We were happy to welcome youth from across the region who championed Ocean Conservation. The workshop was designed to continue building capacity and develop our young peoples understanding of the Caribbean Sea and human activities that continue to degrade the marine environment and coastal ecosystems.

Following the 1st Caribbean Youth Environment and Climate Change Conference which adopted the Caribbean Youth Declaration on Environment and Climate Justice, the Caribbean Youth Climate Council continue to take the approach to mobilize our region and strengthen our movements through Policy, Action and community building.

Over the next few months we intend to launch the Emerging Oceans Leaders Programme and continue consultations on the Caribbean Youth Resilience Fund.

Thank you to our supporters for making this convening possible. Until next time #DefendOurOcean

🌊 Regional Ocean Conservation Youth Workshop 2026 🌊

Last week, our Graduate Students Coordinator joined youth leaders from across the Caribbean for the Regional Ocean Conservation Youth Workshop, hosted by the Caribbean Youth Climate Council (CYCC) under the theme, “Championing a Sustainable Blue Economy for a Resilient Caribbean.”

Over several days of engaging discussions, knowledge sharing, and collaboration, participants explored some of the region’s most pressing ocean and climate challenges, including:

🌱 Zero Waste for Climate Action: The Circular Economy at Sea
🌿 Nature-based Solutions for resilient marine and coastal ecosystems
🌊 Exploring the Deep Sea: Environmental protection, deep-sea mining, and the green energy transition
🐠 The Ocean-Climate-Biodiversity Nexus: Understanding the links between NDCs, NBSAPs, and the BBNJ Agreement

The workshop provided a valuable platform for Caribbean youth to strengthen regional partnerships, exchange innovative ideas, and develop solutions that will help safeguard our oceans while advancing a sustainable blue economy.

As the UWI Environmental Programme continues to empower the next generation of environmental leaders, we remain committed to ensuring our students are represented in regional and international conversations that shape the future of our oceans.

Today, the Caribbean Youth Climate Council (CYCC) celebrates four years of championing youth leadership in environmental and climate action across our region.

What began as a shared vision has grown into a regional network connecting young people from across CARICOM, creating opportunities to engage in policy discussions, strengthen capacity, and contribute to solutions for some of the Caribbean's most pressing environmental challenges.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also reflect on how far we've come and what we've built so far:

🌎 Regional Advocacy – Representing Caribbean youth in regional and international environmental and climate processes.

🤝 Building Partnerships – Collaborating with governments, regional institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners to advance shared environmental and climate priorities.

🎓 Strengthening Capacity – Creating opportunities for Caribbean youth to learn, lead, and meaningfully influence environmental and climate policy.

🌊 Driving Action – Convening the inaugural Caribbean Youth Environment & Climate Change Conference and expanding regional initiatives in ocean conservation and sustainable energy.

But this is only the beginning.

As we look ahead, our commitment remains the same: to ensure Caribbean youth are not simply consulted, but meaningfully engaged as partners in shaping the policies and decisions that will define our region's future.

To every volunteer, delegate, partner, sponsor, speaker, and supporter who has been part of this journey—thank you for believing in the power of Caribbean youth.

Here's to the next chapter of collaboration, leadership, and impact.

Happy 4th Anniversary, CYCC! 🌎💙

Climate & Health at #SB64 🌍🌿+ #TraditionalMedicine .
My favourite photos from SB64 are not from a stage. 📸 @unclimatechange Me with all my friends from across the world. 💚 They remind me that climate diplomacy is not only negotiations and policy papers. It is also friendship, trust, and people who continue to make space for you.

🇺🇦 For the fifth time, from COP28 UAE to SB64, I attended climate negotiations with the support of the Ukrainian Party Overflow. I am not Ukrainian, yet Ukraine continues to support my participation and my work to bring Traditional and Indigenous Medicine, biodiversity, and health into climate spaces by providing Badge!

🌿 At SB64, we organised “Traditional Medicine under Climate Threat”, brought Traditional and Indigenous Medicine into the @youngo.unfccc Policy Paper, and explored citizen science and biodiversity mapping through the @govardhanapp.

📱 Organised “Mapping Nature Together” at Bonn Climate Camp, exploring citizen science, biodiversity, and the Govardhan App

🎙️ Spoke at a UNFCCC press conference about how climate change and biodiversity loss threaten medicinal plants and Traditional and Indigenous Medicine

🏔️ Became part of the Mountain Dialogue and mountain communities.

🤝 I connected with representatives and colleagues from Bangladesh, Ukraine, Egypt, Germany, Gambia, Nigeria, Türkiye, Sri Lanka, Fiji and Lesotho, as well as UNFCCC adaptation leadership. Especially it was really nice catching up with Cecilia and meeting Simon for the first time!

From #WHA79 to SB64, we also connected people across health and environment ministries of several countries. Let’s see what grows from these conversations. 🌱

I self-funded this journey as a student, staying in Europe for around USD 5.3 per day, hours away from the venue.
Exhausting? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. With a Hike 🧗 of 30-45 minutes everyday.

We often ask how to get more funding for climate action.
👽We should also ask: How can we create the greatest possible impact with the resources we already have ?

The Caribbean's future depends on the health of its ocean. From fisheries and tourism to food security, livelihoods, and climate resilience, our marine ecosystems sustain the region's economies and communities. Yet these ecosystems face growing threats from climate change, plastic pollution, coral reef degradation, sargassum influx, overfishing, and emerging pressures such as deep seabed mining.

To help address these challenges, the Caribbean Youth Climate Council (CYCC) in partnership with Ocean Science and Governance Youth Network and Youth Action Co:Lab are organizing the Regional Ocean Conservation Youth Workshop, which will take place from July 22–25, 2026, in Kingston, Jamaica under the theme "Championing a Sustainable Blue Economy for a Resilient Caribbean."

Building on momentum generated through the inaugural Caribbean Youth Environment and Climate Change Conference in 2025, this workshop will bring together 30 young leaders, advocates, and practitioners from across the Caribbean to strengthen their knowledge of ocean governance, marine conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable blue economy solutions.
