Grateful to @happimagazine for featuring our story earlier this year in February.

Growing up in Kaboli, #togo , I watched my mother’s fierce dedication to her community. She would trek to farms in sweltering heat during harvest season, bringing back vegetables for our family and village elders who couldn’t walk.

“One of the greatest things I learned from her is hard work.”

That lesson drives everything we do at @ayeyainc

“I have found a way in my role that can work for the communities in West Africa and in America. A mother in West Africa can use her skills to put food on the table; a family in America can use those products.”

We’re impacting the lives of 350,000 people in Togo and Ghana through our supply chain. Proceeds go toward establishing clean water wells and many more initiatives, with a goal to provide clean water for five million people in the next five years.

AYÉYA means “a life in balance” in Kabolian.

Thank you @wholefoods @sprouts, and all of retail family for sharing our values of sustainability and job security.

These moments—rooted in tradition, bursting with life—are everything.

When I see the joy, feel the energy, and hear the laughter in our community, I’m reminded why we keep pushing forward. It’s for them—their resilience, their stories, and the way their smiles shine a light on our communities and the world.

Our traditions like this one aren’t just dances or rituals—they’re hope, connection, and a reminder of what matters. My dream? To see more of these smiles, more of this joy, in every corner of the world.

So we keep working. We keep fighting for positive opportunities, for honor, and for balance. by @olowondjo

So honored to sit down with @karagoldin on The Kara Goldin Show. We talked about building Alaffia with cooperatives in West Africa, what real fair trade looks like, and the lessons I learned getting the company back. Thank you Kara for such an honest conversation. What a joy to be at the @wholefoods Center Store Rally yesterday! 🧼✨

I was honored to speak with the team about my journey and introduce our new Good Soap body washes, launching at Whole Foods Market next month.

Good Soap is fragrance-forward and joyful, and seeing the team’s excitement for it made my day. I also got to meet so many team members, hear their thoughts, and share more about the women and communities behind @alaffia .

Whole Foods Market has been Alaffia’s partner for many years. Together, we’ve brought our products to more people and created meaningful opportunities for the women who make this work possible. That partnership has meant so much to me through the good years and the difficult ones. 💛

Thank you to Dan Epley, David Lafferty, [@jacob], [@kelly], and the whole Whole Foods Market team for welcoming us. A special thank you to @izzyfrancois and Keith for putting together such an awesome reveal of the new Good Soap line!

So grateful for what we’ve built together and excited for you to discover Good Soap body washes next month. Stay tuned!

🌿 Behind the Brand: Meet Olowo-n’djo Tchala, founder of Alaffia.

He grew up in Togo, where his mother taught him that caring for your community isn’t optional, it’s just what you do. In 1996, he met a young woman from rural Washington, and together they built Alaffia in 2003.

Alaffia is a Togolese greeting meaning peace, health, and well-being. That’s the whole point. Find Alaffia in the Grove Shop. 💛 by @olowondjo

SproutsCon 2026 was joy in motion. Sprouts helps us bring pure, unrefined shea made by women-led coops in West Africa straight to your shelf, and that means more joy in more hands every day. Two days of hugging old friends, meeting new Alaffia fans, and celebrating a partner who backs real ingredients and real women.

Joy is free. So is a good hug. 💚🌱

"Africa has to stop being a raw material producer. Africans need to control the destiny of their resources."

@olowondjo's vision for Alaffia doesn't stop at 100,000 cooperative members. It doesn't stop at a revenue milestone.

The metric is scope: how many West African founders can follow the path that @alaffia opens. How many products reach global markets without losing control to foreign processors.

This is long-term thinking that most companies (and most countries) don't operate with. by @olowondjo

Today is Juneteenth and we honor freedom, resilience, culture, and the generations who continue to shape a more just future.

At Alaffia, community care has always been at the center of our work from fair trade partnerships to investing in education, maternal care, and clean water access around the world.

Here’s to reflection, gathering, continuing the work forward, and finding joy even when life is hard because that in itself is an act of resistance.

Today, I had the pleasure of joining the Juneteenth celebration at Sprouts Farmers Market headquarters.

Events like these matter. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey toward freedom, opportunity, and equality. It was inspiring to see Sprouts intentionally creating space to recognize this important moment in our shared history and bring people together in community.

A special thank you to my longtime friend Don Clark and the entire Sprouts team for the invitation and hospitality. Don has been a thoughtful leader and advocate throughout his career, and it was wonderful to celebrate alongside him and so many passionate people.
