About two weeks ago my time at
@fabricaresearchcentre came to an end. My heart remains full. I’ve met the most amazing group of people from all over the world. At times it was a battle with myself, and with the institution, and at other times, just a relaxed day at Lago di Santa Croce. I will forever stay grateful to have been able to participate in this residency and for the wonderful group of people, I’ve made friends with.
For the Fabrica 30 reunion, a festival celebrating the 30th anniversary of the residency, I decided to photograph our entire group using a method developed by Ira Cohen. In his project ‘Into the Mylar Chamber’, he used a mirrored foil to bend faces and bodies. ‘How to Swallow an Eye from a Face’ was installed at the heart of Tadao Ando‘s Fabrica, establishing our group of residents as the hosts of the festival and welcoming all visitors. Each resident chose their outfit and pose, reflecting on their personality.
