Male and female Red-bellied Woodpeckers who are going to nest in a tree cavity in my neighbourhood. There is a third RBWO vocalizing somewhere behind me. Maybe another nesting pair?
The female is the bird who moves off to the left and flies away first. The male flies toward the camera (iPhone) with a snack in his beak at the end of the video. Males have bright red head tops and foreheads. Females only have bright red head tops.
There is a pair of European Starlings nesting in a tree cavity nearby. There was a bit of a skirmish between the Euro Stars and an RBWO near that cavity. Maybe the Euro Stars took the cavity the RBWO pair wanted?

Cool! We saw a tree in the park that's like an apartment building: the top floor had a rbwp, the lower floor had a squirrel, and I assume there are rats in the basement :)
