Sorry to sound dramatic but bookbinders need a sports massage too!

Sewing is cardio.

When i started out as a stonecarver, my Ma, a dancer, said to me that I had to think of myself physically like an athlete, because my job was so physical. Strength train like an athlete, stretch like one, and definitely rebalancing exercises, because carving is so lop, sided. Best advice ever. Took me a couple of years to learn it, but I am so grateful. My teachers at college had of course said nothing on the matter. I teach my students all that AND mental health walks!

Yes. I sometimes stop the Embroidery group I help run and do some exercises with the group.

Hahaha, well said! Although I have to admit that sometimes filming the โ€œmaking ofโ€ feels almost like a bizarre stretching session in and of itself!! Shall we call it โ€œbookbinding yogaโ€?

Stretch your fingers and do some deep breathing at regular intervals if, like me, youโ€™re inclined to hold your breath while stitching and stitch for too long without a break ๐Ÿ˜

That is a good point to actually stretch/warm up the muscles before doing repetitive tasks!
