Part III - The Outcome
That was it …
A few quiet minutes on a bench with my dad.
And it changed everything.
I became obsessed with observing human beings, what they don’t say, what lives beneath the surface, what they carry alone in silence. Everything I do today traces back to that one lesson that cost him nothing but a few minutes of his time.
Because here’s what I know now …
Men are carrying so much. And most of them have never once been given a safe place to set it down. No space to speak freely. No room to be vulnerable without judgment. No brother to simply sit beside them and say, I see you. You’re not alone.
That is the work I show up for every single day.
As a coach, a mentor, a friend … my mission has always been to create that space. In one on one conversations, in group settings, in men’s circles, in meditations. I am committed to building environments where men can finally exhale. Where they can speak the things they’ve only ever thought. Where they can grieve, grow, laugh, struggle and rise, together.
This isn’t soft work. This is some of the hardest shit one will ever have to do and the most important work there is while we’re on this earth.
My father never had that space. I believe he suffered in silence because of it. And I carry that with me every single day as my greatest inspiration.
We need spaces to share how we’re feeling. It is my duty to create that space for every man I’ve and have yet to meet in this lifetime.
We are a band of brothers and no man will ever be left behind as long as I live.
Jesus gives me the strength to carry that cross forward. And my father gave me the strength through his silence, his mere existence and his clear example.
He made me the man I am today without ever having to do a thing. He simply was …
I will forever honor that by just being!
