Excited to debut our newest musical project Nur ala Nur (Light upon Light) at @ecstaticdancenyc on May 13th in Greenpoint Brooklyn.
Nur Ala Nur is a collaboration between Omar Aena عمر عينة and Abu Zeyn أبو زين — an Iraqi and an Egyptian, inheritors of two of the oldest civilizations on earth, converging in sound. Together they weave electronic music, live instrumentation - inspired by the Sufi path and in creating a devotional experience that moves the body and awakens the spirit.
Omar Aena, with roots from Iraq, bridges worlds through electronic production, spoken word and live oud — drawing from years of exploring sacred music across Morocco, Turkey, Cuba, Egypt and beyond.
Abu Zeyn أبو زين, a child of the Nile and the Arabian Desert, layers live bass, guitar, flute, and vocals into soulful improvisations shaped by jazz and the Sufi spiritual tradition.
