“Don’t Go, Yet” 2026 watercolor & gouache

This piece is a rumination on losing my friend Ted who passed away 6 months ago now. I’ve been thinking about him a lot, about how it still feels surreal he’s not here. I was inspired to explore this idea of pain and confusion and loss. The left figure is smiling, ready to leave to explore beyond the field of the composition while the right figure grounded to the earth, asking them to stay, please, while the party unfolds behind them.
This is probably the first of a larger body of work to come, we shall see.
This will be on view at the Small Mercies group exhibition for Thinkspace Gallery x Antler x Talon Gallery in Portland, OR opening June 25th, 2026

Your work is so wonderful! I just stumbled across it, while I was browsing through Earth albums and thought: Wow, this looks like the Shrine video by Fleet Foxes. Now I found out that you did this, too! It was a great inspiration for my own art since I first saw it in 2012. ❤️
