Hi team. I had a stay in hospital recently for a little operation, and now all is fine.
I was generally in a good mood (fentanyl, I get it) but I did cry when they forgot my lunch one day, and then I sobbed more when, having taken pity on me, they scrabbled to put me a tray together and gave me this sandwich, yoghurt and fruit pot. I cried a) because I was in desperate need of some flavour and this wasn't going to cut it b) I was hungry and c) because I was so touched by the gesture (photo 1).
The views were pretty incredible and I spent many days watching folk cross Westminster Bridge. And that big helium thing - what is it? It kept floating about. You wouldn't catch me dead in one. Or rather, you would, and that's my point (photo 2).
On my last day, a Sunday, it was roast beef. The roast potatoes were honestly better than about 73% of ones I've paid for in restaurants. Actually crispy. I was impressed (photo 3).
Anyway, slowly easing myself back. I love the NHS. My hot, sweaty plastic bed did me good when I needed it and then became a prison I had to escape from the moment I felt better.
Still taking it easy, will slowly catch up on emails over the next few weeks 🙏🏾
