Astrophotography is all about collecting photons. The more photons you collect, the more detail, color, and structure you can reveal from the night sky.
This image is a stack of 50 exposures, captured at 14mm, 15 seconds, f/1.8, from Al Qua, Abu Dhabi back in 2024 using my
@sonymea A9 paired with the 14mm F1.8 GM.
The workflow doesn't end in the field. After capturing the frames, I stacked all 50 images to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, allowing the faint details of the Milky Way to stand out while significantly reducing noise. I then carefully processed the image by neutralizing the background, balancing the colors, enhancing the dust lanes and nebulae, and applying selective noise reduction and sharpening to preserve a natural look without overprocessing.
A small request to everyone who visits Al Qua: this is one of the last truly dark locations in the UAE where we can experience and photograph the Milky Way. Please avoid using high beams, floodlights, bright camping lights, or laser pointers unless absolutely necessary. Even a few minutes of unnecessary light can affect everyone's images and takes our eyes much longer to readapt to the darkness.
Let's all do our part to protect this incredible night sky so future visitors can enjoy it too. 🌌
