Join us each week as we tell you a little more about the stars behind Starworks 🌟
Meet Ryan Osborne, artist, friend, dog-dad, and manager of Starworks Ceramic Supply Shop @starworksceramics
Ryan joined Starworks in July 2021, but his connection to the local ceramics community began much earlier. In 2009, he visited the area on a field trip with Ferrum College’s ceramics program, and it was then that he first felt a connection to Seagrove and its pottery tradition.
After earning his MFA from Kent State University in 2014, Ryan stayed in Ohio, where he became part of a growing wood-fire ceramics community and worked at a local ceramic supply shop. When he saw an opening at Starworks, he decided to take a chance on making the move to North Carolina, and we’re so fortunate he did.
For Ryan, the opportunity to be surrounded by an incredible variety of local clays, an abundance of wood kilns, and a wood-fire tradition and ceramics community stretching back hundreds of years made this beautiful area feel like the right place to be.
Quick Favorites: 🔥Favorite Starworks event: Wood Fire NC Conference ☕️Go-to Café order: Latte with sugar 📍Favorite places on campus: His studio space & sitting under the kiln shed
