Six years after co-founding @get_joni, Jayesh Vekariya, MBA ’19, is passing forward the support he received along the way.
“Success goes beyond education,” says Jayesh. “It was truly the whole UVic environment that played a significant role in supporting me. Gustavson gave me the framework to succeed. The people behind the Innovation Centre helped me day and night and encouraged me to keep going when I was doubtful.”
Earlier this year, Jayesh brought that support full circle with a $6,000 donation to Gustavson and another $6,000 to @uvicinnovation_ to support future student entrepreneurs.
Giving back has been part of joni’s model from the beginning. The company has helped fund more than one million donated period products.
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you are starting out,” says Jayesh. “You’ll be surprised at how many people are willing to help you.”
