What a beautiful surprise to see our feature on
@bandcamp out in the world today, written by the great George Grella, right as we hit our one year mark since launching Kou.
Neither of us could have imagined what this journey would be. But even more than that, we couldn’t have imagined the incredible ecosystem of people that has formed around it, which really feels more like a movement: artists, both sonic and visual, engineers, designers, studios, shipping, manufacturers, printers, distributors, press, listeners, collectors. Every single one makes Kou flow through the world, and we’re deeply grateful for all of it.
Starting a label in 2025 has been the most challenging and rewarding thing we’ve ever done, not to mention fifteen records in that year, which is near-psychotic. So proud, so grateful, and the movement keeps going. 🖤
