ICE OUT 🩵
Growing #Nepenthes, #Pinguicula, & other carnivores
📍 Minneapolis, MN

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

First 12"+ pitcher on my Nepenthes rajah x robcantleyi bred by @robcantley . The next leaf is approx 40% larger than the one that produced this monster, so I fully expect it to keep putting on size. Congrats to @greyes01 for flowering his! With any luck, mine may flower within a year or so.

It's difficult watching the state I've lived in my entire life be the nation's center of attention for all the wrong reasons.

Every day friends and family members (citizens or other legal statues) cower in fear that they might be abducted, assaulted, and separated from their families- for no reason other than the color of their skin or their accent. I have family members that fled a genocidal, authoritarian regime only to be persecuted by the very country that took them in.

Daycare pick-ups are guarded by parents.

Grocery stores are open but the front door is locked.

Elementary schools are stalked and children used as pawns by the govt.

Students making secret grocery deliveries, are stalked by the govt, and are ready to chew up the hand-written addresses if needed.

What's abundantly clear is that nobody is coming to save us. They'll come for your community too (if they haven't already).

We can no longer ask that somebody should do something.

EVERYONE must do SOMETHING.

The community response has been nothing short of incredible. Minnesotans are always ready to pull over and help someone stuck in the ditch. We look out for each other because that's how we survive four straight months of winter.

Those winters are part of what makes out summers so incredible. There is no light without the darkness.

☀️ MN summers melt ICE 🧊

"Minnesota is dope
If simply not for what we have but what we don't

Got trees and vegetation in the city I stay
The rent's in the mail and I can always find a parking space

Make a family, make magic, make a mess
Take the stress, fuel your motivation, and build your nest

It sucks that you think where I'm from is whack
But as long as that's enough to keep your ass from coming back

And with a smile and a hint of sarcasm, he said
I beg your pardon but this is my secret garden"

When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin'
"Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya" At seven p.m., a main hatchway caved in, he said "Fellas, it's been good to know ya" The captain wired in he had water comin' in And the good ship and crew was in peril And later that night when his lights went outta sight Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

Does anyone know where the love of God goes When the waves turn the minutes to hours? The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd put 15 more miles behind her They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water And all that remains is the faces and the names Of the wives and the sons and the daughters

Anyways here's a Nepenthes rafflesiana x veitchii

A couple nice looking veitchii, proving once again that it's the best Nepenthes species:
1) (PE, 2019) № 28 from @premium.exotics.tw
2) (m) EP
3) "bario" via @redbarncarnivores
