If you know me, you know I LOVE sushi… 🍣 👇 A first of its kind: Peruvian / Japanese fusion. Concept came straight from Spain, now finally opened up its doors for the first time here in the US (Chicago). 🇪🇸 —-> 🇺🇸 Quite a delightful experience, thank you for having us @akiro.us . Will definitely be coming back for more. 🤍 P.S. Absolute MUST try’s are anything Toro, Salmon AND Scallop (Wagyu was also great).😋

Fusion done right 🍣 @akiro.us This is the world’s first Nikkei handroll bar, which combines flavors and techniques from Japan and Peru, leading to unique flavor combinations beyond what you might find at a traditional handroll bar. Some of my favorite bites: - Salmon and hamachi sashimi: some of the thiccest sashimi you’ll ever see, so refreshing and crisp 😮‍💨 - Shrimp tempura: similar to a rock shrimp and this one is up there with the best - Toro caviar nigiri: your classic luxurious but with the bone marrow drippings it was next level 🔥 - Salmon truffle nigiri: I could not get enough of this so ordered multiple, the foie gras dollop makes it - Short rib handroll: not something you usually see and had a nice touch of sweetness - Matcha tres leches: exactly as good as it sounds, I’m a sucker for tres leches @beli_eats rating: 8.8/10 so much good stuff 📍Akiro River North | Chicago #handrollbar #chicagorestaurants #chicagofoodie #japaneseperuvian #nikkeifood

Chicago is one of my favorite cities 🥹. I have 1 more reason to go back and it’ll be just for Akiro @akiro.us 🍣🥢 Akiro is a brand new restaurant in Chicago offering a Nikkei Hand Roll experience. The fusion of Japanese & Peruvian cuisine is just perfect. There’s a few things that just a non negotiable: Miso Soup, Hamachi Ceviche, Burger Nigiri, and Short Rib Hand Roll. Those are all great items to order and will not disappoint. Whenever there’s a Lychee Martini on the menu, that’s exactly what I’ll get 🍸, it was done really well! There’s a lot more cocktails and even N/A option to explore. For the folks in Chicago, you have to make a reservation ! Akiro in River North is one of those sushi spots you’ll forever tell people about. Sitting right up at the bar to one of their four hand roll bars, you will get to experience the true precision and perfection that comes along with their delicious hand rolls and nigiri. We came and tried just about every option on the menu, and believe us when we say there was not a single bad bite! Our favorites were the tuna nigiri, a dish that sounds so simple, but that’s is delivered with startling perfection. We also loved the Acevichado and the Octopus Anticucho, two hand rolls absolutely packed with tuna octopus respectively, and filled to the brim with flavors of Japan and Peru. And, don’t miss out on their Matcha Tres Leches cake. Chris is a tres leches stan, and this is one of his favorites! Hamachi ceviche, shrimp tempura, melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, the most unique nigiri of my life (unagi + dark chocolate + candied ginger 🤯), next-level handrolls, AND a matcha tres leches to finish. This is what happens when two food cultures collide beautifully. Every seat is at the counter, every roll is made right in front of you — it’s dining as a moment, not just a meal. Chef, you’re a genius. Staff, you’re the sweetest.
