Going to play with some poetry and live production mañana at @americanschoolstorytelling in mpls. I’m excited. Haven’t done a straight up poetry set for a minute and looking at this setlist 👀
Bring a poem or a song for the open mic! More info in the bio.

📸: Uyenthi Tran Myhre - 5.21 with @guantesolo for a Secret Rivers engagement. A picture showing See More in a massive, beautifully wood paneled space with huge slanted walls and full of natural light from a big angular window taking up the whole top left corner of the frame. A tiny See at the very bottom left of the frame is performing a poem on the mic into the space outward and over a pool of a crowd straight across the bottom of the frame. A long, more rectangular window as tall as See More juts from behind them and reaches out to the right over the crowd. A screen (that was much bigger than it looks here) is above the far end of those windows and shows a graphic of See More and KTM with text that reads, “Welcome Secret Rivers! Of What Future Are These The Wild, Early Days?”. by @see_more_beats

TLDR; alternate original cover art for the Secret Rivers song, ‘Worthy of the Stone’, inspired by ‘Andor’ shared in the spirit of May the Fourth. More in bio.

Late to May the Fourth from over here, but i happen to know the geeks celebrate all month long - and of course, the Force is always with us.

The song is inspired by the series ‘Andor’, and was originally set to two different mixes of the ‘Niamos’ club banger that was produced specifically to sound like cross galactic club music for the scene where Mon Mothma dances in circles (in iconic scene and intense scene that landed a series of events into a greater understanding of the world Mon has been mostly gliding over the surface of up to that point). The same producer did a bunch of versions and they’re all excellent. I also cut and arranged the different mixes for our vocalized version, not that I did much but choose the mixes and blend them pretty minimally.

Anyway, our verses are anti empire and full of sw references from Lady Proxima to Kyber Crystal being used as a conductor. Not to mention the layers of Rebels and Andor, with a real beating heart cradled in community resistance.

So. I made this art since the initial idea was to release ‘Worthy of the Stone’ as a single. Then we switched to this maxi single idea, added a few other new pieces including the poem and current title track, ‘Spring Is Coming’. You can read that zine on the grid.

The photo this design is built over the top of was taken on a little camping trip to a nearby state park nestled in this beautiful glacially ground stone with all kinds of texture and jutting natural reservoirs on the edge of the river valley. Then some Hand Style, some text, and a little paint job to bring it all together. A photo of stone from a state park on the border of MN and Wisconsin. Rich in texture and all shades of brown, a soft highlight within words that could almost have been carved into the surface read, “WORTHY OF THE STONE” across nearly the whole image. White letters in graffiti hand style read “SECRET RIVERS” across the top, where the shadow is gathered. by @see_more_beats

SECRET RIVERS features the fiery vocals of slam poetry champion Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre backed by the live production wizardry of SEE MORE PERSPECTIVE on the MPC and Loop Station 505. Disrupting the stereotype of spoken word poetry as navel-gazing, open mic night pretentiousness, the duo performs work that centers grounded, human connection—from rejecting dominant culture visions of masculinity, to affirming the importance of grief, to cultivating radical hope in the midst of crisis. Deftly weaving together Hip Hop, ambient, and a mural-like collage of vocal samples (from Octavia Butler, Avatar the Last Airbender, Blade Runner, and beyond), SMP arranges soundscapes for Tran Myhre’s poetry that feel right at home at a music festival, a theater show, a sci-fi convention, or the end/beginning of the world.

Secret Rivers will be playing the Solidarity Street Gallery this weekend alongside SkySpiders & the Imperceptible Web with an instrumental set by SEE MORE PERSPECTIVE. October 11th, from 6-9 at Caydence Coffee and Records, where See More will also be showing visual art for the month of October. by @see_more_beats

From a solidarity love story between hiphop and folk music comes Sky Spiders & the Imperceptible Web to haunt you with raging poetry, dreamy vocals and infectiously danceable apocalyptic beats. SkySpiders combine the styles and approaches of solo artists Kat Parent and SEE MORE PERSPECTIVE to embark on a musical journey through a lush, acapella acoustic electronica mashup of influences over a groovy boom bap foundation. See More’s (they/he) poetry and rap shimmer with fierce Xicane mysticism and nerdy joy. Kat Parent (they/she) bends old folk forms into subversive queer storytelling and juicy harmonies. Together, they are Sky Spiders and the Imperceptible Web, soaring the electronic airwaves with throbbing beats, eerie vocals and salient, heartfelt lyrics. Listen to their debut album, Slept Dawn on Bandcamp.
SkySpiders will be playing the Solidarity Street Gallery this Saturday October 11th at Caydence Coffee and Records alongside Secret Rivers and instrumental sets by SEE MORE PERSPECTIVE. See More also has an art show up at Caydence as their featured artist for October! by @see_more_beats
