“push the lines forward / no kings, no bigots, no borders” The footage focuses on us, but I want to note that this is in front of like 150k people. Surreal, of course, but also cathartic. I think our goal in that situation was to try to reflect even a fraction of the frustration, spite, and fury of our 2026 experience in MN, while also, always, pointing in the direction of solidarity and possibility. As SMP says later in the song “you’re coming home to yourself: welcome.” The work continues, never really stopped, but it was an honor to share this with our community. Thanks for listening. SkySpiders will be performing to kick off Music in the Trees at Belwin Conservancy Saturday! Pack a lunch, bring a blanket or camp chair, and settle in beneath the trees for an afternoon of live music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Rain or shine, so plan accordingly! 📅 August 16–17, 11am – 3pm (we’ll be on right at 11) 📍 Belwin Conservancy Education Site, Afton, MN 🎟️ Tickets are per car (pay what you can: $10, $20, or $35). Carpooling encouraged. Bicycles get in free. We would love to see you there! Unfortunately, we've made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's Minnesota Zero Waste Fest due to the forecast of unhealthy air quality. As wildfires and extreme heat become a more common part of our summers, it's a reminder that climate change is affecting our communities in real time. We are particularly thinking of our friends in northern Minnesota. Reducing waste is one of the many ways we can cut climate pollution and build a healthier, more resilient future. What is the Fourth of July? (Or Independence Day was Never Independence Day for Me) - revised text I shared the video on its own and wanted to follow up with the most recent edit of the text, which, to me, really brings the piece home. The video edit is the same version as the one shared a couple days back. Still from the opening of the video of this poem, performed live several years ago.
