Kinda chic to play gigs with people who inspire the sh¡t outta you. ✨✨✨

🙏 Big huge thanks to @jimwalshmpls for organizing an excellent Hoot(enanny) & to the fine audience at MinnPostFest for listening, hanging, & singing along. 🦉 One of my favorite piece of audience commentaries to date came from a super rad lady after this set “… pretty cool how you got a church sanctuary full of Boomers to sing ‘Fu¢k ¡¢E’ along with you.” (Indeed!😆😎🖕🧊)

Keep on Hootin’ & Lovin’ & Resistin’ friends ~💘J

Join us in congratulating the selected participants for Fox Maxy’s Mental Wellness Film Workshop!

Each of them will create a one-minute film with the guidance of Fox Maxy that will screen on September 10th at 7 pm alongside her feature film Gush at the Walker Art Center. Join us for the screening and conversation with the artist.

Complementary tickets are available! Please email patricia.villon@walkerart.org

Comment ‘screening’ and we will DM you a link to the screening with more info or find it in our bio.

~

Fox Maxy (Payómkawichum and Iipay Kumeyaay from the Mesa Grande Band of Mission Indians) is an artist and filmmaker whose work spans magical realism, horror, and mystery. Maxy’s style of storytelling explores modern femininity, blending grit and glam. She began her film career through independent and resourceful filmmaking. Her debut feature, Gush, premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, and for 2024-2025 she was honored with the Chanel Next Prize. Her films have screened at MoMA, TIFF, LACMA, and IFFR.

Fox Maxy’s Mental Wellness Film Workshop is designed for anyone interested in visual communication and fostering constructive dynamics within their creative and professional lives, regardless of whether they have a career in film or the arts. She guides participants to move through internal and external barriers that often prevent them from creating or sharing work. Attendees will create their own 1 minute film, navigating the entire process from initial concept and production to editing and screening their work for an audience.

📸: by Susan Haugh (top rehearsal pic), @stein_ographer (last years performance) - the one of us in the hammock is from after our set at last year’s event. Green and white flyer with pictures of See More and Kat being cuties and playing music 16’ up in the trees from last year’s set and a pic from our rehearsal a few weeks back, with another pic of the two smiling under the sun in a hammock after their set last year. Over the green part at the top there is a transparent photo of a web in a tree in the woods.

Unfortunately, we've made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's Minnesota Zero Waste Fest due to the forecast of unhealthy air quality.

As wildfires and extreme heat become a more common part of our summers, it's a reminder that climate change is affecting our communities in real time. We are particularly thinking of our friends in northern Minnesota.

Reducing waste is one of the many ways we can cut climate pollution and build a healthier, more resilient future.

We'll be sharing ways to take action on zero waste tomorrow, so check back here to learn how you can get involved.

Until then, stay safe, take care of yourselves, and thank you for being part of Minnesota's zero waste community.
