I like to say the mind is like a monkey who got bit by a bee and is also drunk. So many thoughts jumping around, crashing into each other, swinging from one idea to the next.

So, Yoga really helps me calm the mind and bring that wild monkey to rest. 🐒🍌

People think yogis are supposed to be soft, grounded, eternally calm, and morally superior. That’s a myth. Yoga is a practice. An ongoing one.

You can practice for years and still struggle to sit with yourself. You can teach mindfulness and still be reactive. The practice doesn't eliminate your humanity or your flaws; it simply removes your ability to hide from them. Drop the act, and what’s left is just human experience. taken in Zürich, Switzerland by @spicytapas

At 31, I did something I believed was physically impossible for me: I learned the splits.

It made me realize how quickly a temporary boundary becomes a permanent narrative.

“I can’t.”
“I’m too old.”
“I’m not made for that.”

We take a missing skill and make it an identity. Yoga keeps challenging that idea. Practice gently undoes this. It reminds us that, like nature, we are built to adapt. The body changes, the mind expands, and the stories we told ourselves about our limits turn out to be just stories. You are far more adaptable than you think. by @spicytapas

All roads lead to Rome.

In a handstand, as in life, we try different routes. We fall, we adjust, and we start again. We learn to stay present when everything feels weird and upside down.

So why do we actually practice this? It’s about showing up for the mess, staying curious, and trusting that your way to Rome doesn't have to look like a perfectly straight line or all those crazy shapes on Instagram from people who look like gravity doesn't even exist.

In Sanskrit, a handstand is called Adho Mukha Vrksasana - the downward-facing tree. That’s beautiful: like any tree, to reach high and stay stable, you first need deep roots.

My heart has grown bigger through this practice, largely because of the souls it has brought into my path.

Yoga means union - bringing body, mind and breath together. But to me, it is also a bridge to other people.

When we become more connected to ourselves, we can also meet others on a deeper level. And that lets us see that, underneath all our different stories, we are not so different after all. 🤍🤍🤍 taken in Zürich, Switzerland by @spicytapas

Also halten wir zurück, was eigentlich gesagt werden will.

Verbindung. #wandern #wandernschweiz #schweizerberge taken in Switzerland by @spicytapas

Can’t it just be a simple asana?

We all know what yoga does for our mental health: the concentration, the connection between body and mind, the conscious breathing, and the effect on our nervous system. The chance to face our fears.

So why these unusual shapes? Why the complexity? And how much of it is actually yoga – and how much is simply our ego wanting to go further, deeper, harder?

Perhaps the beauty lies exactly in this absurdity.

It made me realize how obsessed we are with knowing exactly what we are doing, why we are doing it, and what we get out of it.

We don't need to decode everything. Just like science, practice is about being curious, not about having all the answers. It’s the one that keeps us asking better questions. taken in Zürich, Switzerland by @spicytapas

The older I get, the more I enjoy simply being. Long days in nature. Sitting somewhere beautiful and watching the light change. Swimming in cold water, feeling the sun on my skin, the wind in my hair, listening to the birds. Taking long naps, reading, thinking. Having conversations that go nowhere and everywhere. Sometimes life becomes richer by leaving space — to think, to feel, to wonder. by @spicytapas

Two people can live through the same circumstances and experience two completely different realities.

One sees pressure. The other sees privilege. One sees a problem. The other sees a possibility. One sees an ending. The other sees the beginning of something new.

Nothing outside of them has necessarily changed. What has changed is the way they are looking at it.

It’s easy to believe that our lives are defined by what happens to us. And of course, some things really do happen to us. They hurt. They change us. They leave a mark.

But there is something else at play: the meaning we give to what happens.

We don’t experience life as a collection of objective facts. We experience it through our memories, our fears, our expectations, our beliefs — through everything we have already lived.

The same situation can therefore feel like a threat to one person and an invitation to another.

This doesn’t mean pretending that everything is fine. It doesn’t mean turning pain into a positive lesson or convincing yourself that every difficult thing happens “for a reason”.

It simply means remembering that there is often more than one way of looking at what is happening. taken in Tessin, Schweiz by @spicytapas
