Last Saturday’s Chaitra Navratri Garba at Laxmi Narayan Mandir was a beautiful celebration and we were proud to sponsor the evening. Our mission has always been to support and serve the very communities we are part of. It was also wonderful to meet so many local people who are excited about the community solar project at Laxmi Narayan Mandir. With Culture, faith, and sustainability all in one room. ☀️🪔 by @suryacommunityenergy
Last week we carried out structural surveys across a few of our Midlands sites 🏗️☀️ Our engineer has been busy checking that roofs can safely support the installation of solar panels. A big step towards bringing clean energy to these spaces. by @suryacommunityenergy
Yesterday we were at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) @energygovuk for the Great British Energy Community Energy event.☘️☀️ Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, painted a picture of what community empowerment really looks like. A new economy where communities own a stake in the energy around them. The panel featured Dr Alan Whitehead CBE, Helen Seagrave from Great British Energy, and Emma Bridge from Community Energy England all talking about what it’s going to take to grow community energy across the UK. The conversations in the room were just as powerful. We connected with community energy groups from across the country, explored new funding opportunities and partnerships, and had some brilliant conversations about bringing more communities into the energy transition. A really valuable day for Surya Community Energy Team!⚡️ by @suryacommunityenergy
Community energy starts with community. Brilliant to be at Bhavan Centre supporting NHSF (UK) and their showcase of cultural talent from universities across the UK. Loved being part of it. More to come.☀️ by @suryacommunityenergy
Had a brilliant afternoon speaking to students about community energy at @avantifields Leicester as part of the @nhsf_uk regional sports day. Congratulations to all the teams who took part! by @suryacommunityenergy
Pleasure to be at the Action for Harmony conference to talk about Community Energy. Lots of energy in the room ☀️ by @suryacommunityenergy
The Energy Price Cap is expected to rise this October by 2%, costing the average household £2.93 a month extra Ofgem uses the price of the wholesale market to determine the cost of the price cap. Despite the UK moving to more renewable sources, our dependence on the international gas market leads to high costs to the consumer. Check with your supplier, if you are getting the best deal, and if you're on a flexible tariff, see if you can find a cheaper fixed one instead, avoiding these rising costs, especially as it's expected to rise further in the Spring! This is one of many reasons why we at Surya emphasise the need for solar on Mandirs and community buildings; rising costs hamper the ability of organisations to run buildings that are the beating heart of the community. The power of the sun has been used for survival for centuries! ☀ From cooking, to lighting, to heating, sunlight as helped various civilisations cope with the obstacles of the time. 🚧 With Solar, we overcome energy insecurity. With the high demand for electricity in today's age, it is more vital than ever to ensure we can power our temples and buildings together 🔋 Source: https://www.energysage.com/about-clean-energy/solar/the-history-and-invention-of-solar-panel-technology/#when-was-solar-energy-first-used .................. #climatechange #ClimateAction #climate #renewableenergyisthefuture #localpeople #climateaction #community #solarprojects #sustainableliving #sustainability #surya #solarenergy #solarpanels #solarpower #renewableenergy #renewable #communityenergy #CommunityEnergy by @suryacommunityenergy
Community Energy is the future ☀ Crowdfunding through the local community to set up Solar and EV at Community Halls, Temples, etc, gives the freedom to organisations to save money, be part of the Surya Community Fund (more on that in a later post) and produce their own renewable, green electricity.🔋 Those who invest will receive shares, and once the panels start producing their own energy to sell to the grid, they will receive a set percentage as a return on their investment.↩️ Look out for our share offer soon! 👀 .................. #climatechange #ClimateAction #climate #renewableenergyisthefuture #localpeople #climateaction #community #solarprojects #sustainableliving #sustainability #surya #solarenergy #solarpanels #solarpower #renewableenergy #renewable #communityenergy #CommunityEnergy by @suryacommunityenergy
With rising renewable generation and sunlight experienced in England, we at Surya are excited to be part of the community energy movement! ☀ Moving the benefits from corporations to the people will ensure that the money will come from the community and stay in the community, creating a circular financial model! ♻ Have a site in mind or want to join us? Is Solar worth all the hype? This question has been asked countless times in households across the UK. With the hassle of upfront costs, set-up and maintenance, it can deter a lot of people from this renewable energy source.☀ With over 1.5 million households across the UK already choosing to power their homes with solar and a 12-15% YoY growth of commercial solar since 2021 and solar panel prices plummeting over time, it has never been a better time to install solar. Instead of relying on volatile energy prices, solar panels allow you to produce sustainable energy for your building and export any excess back to the grid! 💰 Here at Surya, we remove the faff of paperwork, maintenance and hefty individual cost by using the power of the local community to have a share in their mandirs, community-owned buildings and other key local buildings, taking the power away from big energy companies and into the hands of the local community! .................. #surya #solarenergy #solarpower #renewableenergy #communityenergyuk #renewable #communityenergy #climatechange #solarpanels #solarprojects #sustainability #sustainableliving by @suryacommunityenergy
