MMA striking rounds with a pro fighter: footwork, boxing combos & kicks | Boca Raton & West Palm Beach
Watch how @nicdali moves. Pro level striking comes down to balance, angles and staying composed when the pace goes up. Technique that holds up when you’re tired is the kind that wins rounds.
What to watch:
→ Footwork and angle changes
→ Boxing combinations into kicks
→ Staying calm under pressure

Save this for your next striking session. 👊
🥋 Train with me: MMA classes Tue, Wed, Fri & Sat in Boca Raton and West Palm Beach.

“I just got very more confident with my skills.”

Matt has trained for about three years. He spent six years in striking, then fell in love with grappling. He’s also a coach. Six months of MMA privates with Professor Savage later, here’s what changed:

✅ Cardio: “a lot better overall,” so he can work with his students for longer
✅ Hand to hand and grappling: sharper in MMA and on the mats
✅ Confidence: “I feel a lot better about myself” rolling against people bigger than him
✅ Coaching: “a lot more techniques to pass down to students” and a better read on different body types, sizes and skill sets
That’s what happens when you train under someone way more experienced. You don’t just get better. You get better at making others better.
Whether you compete, coach or just want to level up your game, private MMA coaching is where the details get fixed.

Mike Malott knocked out Joaquin Buckley with a knee at 2:32 of Round 2 in the UFC Edmonton main event, and he set it up a full round earlier.

Here’s how he did it:

•He pinned Buckley on the fence and dug knees to the body. Buckley got used to seeing that knee.
•They broke back to range and Buckley tried to come forward.
•As Buckley came in low, Malott stepped in and timed the knee. Mouthpiece out, down, one shot on the mat, over.

The lesson for your own training: the strike that finishes the fight usually gets set up somewhere else first. Show it in the clinch, then catch them with it when they come in on the open floor.

Save this for your next striking session, and send it to the training partner who always ducks in low.

Sunday Scouting Report: one UFC finish, broken down, every week. Follow so you don’t miss the next one.

Coach and fighter pad work: how real-time corrections build better strikers | MMA training in Boca Raton & West Palm Beach 🥊
The real work happens between the strikes. A good coach doesn’t just hold pads. He watches, stops the round, fixes one thing, and sends the fighter back sharper. That’s how habits change.
What to watch:

→ Pad rounds with red-glove combinations
→ The cage-side correction between rounds
→ How one small adjustment changes the next round
Save this if you hold pads or train with a coach, and send it to your training partner.

MMA pad work: kicks, knees & combos on pads | MMA coaching in Boca Raton & West Palm Beach 🥊
Good pad work is a conversation. The holder feeds the angle, the fighter reacts, and the round teaches both of you something. Cardio is the byproduct, not the point.
What to watch:
→ Kicks and knees off the pads
→ Reading the holder’s cues
→ Staying sharp, not sloppy, as the pace climbs
→ The coaching between rounds that fixes habits
Save this for your next pad session, and send it to your holder. 👊

Brendan Allen submitted Christian Leroy Duncan with a rear-naked choke at 2:46 of Round 5 in the UFC Vegas 122 main event. That’s 22 minutes into a five-round fight, and the back take is what ended it.

Here’s how he did it:

• He got behind Duncan on the fence and locked his hands across his chest. That locked grip is what kept Duncan from turning back in.
• They went to the mat and he never gave up the back.
• Duncan fought the hands late. Allen stayed patient and kept hunting the neck.
• The arm slid under the chin and the choke was in. Tap.

The lesson for your own training: taking the back is only half of it. Keeping it while someone fights you for it is the real skill. Chest tight to their back, hands locked, and don’t chase the choke until the position is secure.

Save this for your next rolling session, and send it to the training partner who always loses the back.

Sunday Scouting Report: one UFC finish, broken down, every week. Follow so you don’t miss the next one.

5 minute kettlebell workout, round 2: the Clinch Round. 🥊

One kettlebell. One MMA round. As many rounds as you can:
- 10 kettlebell swings
- 6 rows each side
- 6 halos
- 8 push-ups

That's 36 reps a round. No planned rest.

This one is all grip, back, and core. That's what holds a clinch when you're tired. It's also what keeps you strong after 40.

My score: 7+7 with a 35lbs bell.

Beat it. Post your score in the comments. Send this to the training partner who owes you a round.

MMA pad work: clinch, knees & body shots, 10th Planet Boca Raton 🥊
Good padwork doesn’t just catch punches. It builds the fight. Strike to clinch, clinch to knees, break and reset. That’s how you train the transitions where real fights get decided.
What we drilled:
→ Boxing combos to body shots
→ Collar tie and clinch entries
→ Muay Thai knees off the clinch
→ Dirty boxing on the break
Pad holding is a skill. Feed realistic angles, make your fighter move, and every round counts.
Save this for your next striking session and send it to your training partner. 👊
