Stop fossiele reclame! 💚 In London mocht ik deelnemen aan een event voor gemeenteraadsleden over een fossiel reclameverbod. Dit is een simpele maar belangrijke maatregel om de klimaatcrisis aan te pakken.

Erg interessant om de verschillende ervaringen te horen, zoals die van Green MP Carla Denyer en gemeenteraadslid Racheal Penny. Super mooi dat Adfree cities dit organiseerde om gemeenten in Londen te inspireren. Hopelijk zien we dan ook snel een fossiel reclameverbod in Londen! 💪

Outdoor advertising degrades our public spaces and their unique, historical character. They advertise massive global corporations that siphon money out of the local economy. And they look 💩

🚨Around 73% of farmed animals in the UK are kept in factory farms. US-style mega farms have grown by 20% since 2016.

You won’t see that on a billboard. If they showed the truth, nobody would go near them.

That’s why we’ve pledged to ban meat and dairy ads from council-owned billboards in Hackney, making us the first UK borough to do so. Factory farming harms animals, the climate and our health, so why should our streets be selling it?

56% of people in the UK support banning factory farming outright. We banned tobacco ads because of the harm they cause, and Big Ag shouldn’t get a free pass.

With multiple meanings breasts symbolically represent nourishment, fertility, intimacy, and in older traditions grief (common cultural expressions of deep remorse)

Altar is a subversive artwork that demonstrates how breast are seen, within the context of women who serve as the primary caregivers and we are foundational pillars within families, communities and services everywhere.

Altar demonstrates breast fluid not as milk but as red wine. The wine is the Altar wine a sacramental wine used for religious ceremonies being pure, and a natural grape wine. The breast wine also demonstrates how life, babies are fed by milk is produced through a hormonal process. The red wine also symbolises the menstrual cycle blood, and like a period the breast here is like a sacred shed of the uterus, turned into wine, a unique consumption acts that is sacred and a ritual symbol but potent psychoactive substance.

A few weeks after making this Leigh-Ann Pinnock just model a lactation-inspired couture at the Di Petsa show during London Fashion Week, a sculptural lactating bra that mimics streams of breast milk shooting out of nipples. And like this work, these nipples stream women’s lunar connection, our self renewal of rebirth, creation and death, and women’s source of power.

Our work is at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool with @adfreecities

Last year we collaborated with Ad Free Cities on their interactive billboard installation, and they've brought it to conference this week.

The piece uses AI to capture passers-by's faces, make assumptions about them from fake data, and then try to sell them things. It's designed to make visible what Ad Free Cities' research shows is already happening: AI quietly profiling people through public advertising.

A new step towards changing what gets promoted in our public spaces. 🌱⁠

Hackney Mayor Zoë Garbett from @hackneygreenparty has pledged to end meat and dairy advertising on council-owned land, following the launch of the Gag Big Ag campaign by @adfreecities. If implemented, Hackney would become the first UK local authority to adopt this kind of restriction. ⁠
⁠
Advertising shapes the choices we see every day. Public spaces can help promote a food system that works with our climate, protects nature and supports a more sustainable future, rather than continuing to promote industries that place significant pressure on our planet.⁠

The Government wants to expand intensive poultry farming.

Their plan for all the extra waste? Good question.. 🤔

Our rivers are already choking on chicken poo. Expanding intensive poultry units risks making a dire situation even worse.
