We’ve written to the Prime Minister, alongside the #VATsTheProblem campaign and 800+ hospitality operators, calling for a lower rate of VAT for hospitality.

Hospitality businesses are facing continued increases in costs, making it harder to operate sustainably. A lower rate of VAT would make a meaningful difference to restaurants, pubs, cafés, hotels, nightclubs and leisure venues across the UK.

More than 370,000 people have already signed the petition.

10% is fair for hospitality.

Huge congratulations to Anna Watkins on receiving one of Spain’s highest civil honours.

Anna, Managing Director of Barrafina Group and Director of Harts Group, has been awarded the Cruz de Oficial de la Orden de Isabel la Católica in recognition of her outstanding contribution to championing Spanish culture and cuisine on the international stage.

From building lasting relationships with regional producers and bringing some of Spain’s most exciting chefs to London through Barrafina Invita, to leading Barrafina’s first international opening in Dubai earlier this year - this moment reflects not just Anna’s leadership, but the passion and dedication of the entire team.

Presented at the Spanish Embassy in London yesterday evening and celebrated alongside friends, family and the Barrafina team, this honour recognises a longstanding commitment to sharing the richness, diversity and generosity of Spanish hospitality.

Yesterday I completed one of the most ambitious and fun projects of 2026: taking @aaronortiz1 and @jaioneaizpurua from @restaurantekabo to London for a #barrafinaInvita event and to promote Navarre's wine and food tourism offerings to journalists and specialized tour operators. Thanks to @visitnavarra for making it possible, and also to @navarrawines, @elnavarrico, and @martiniegaoliveoil @martiniegaoliveoil for their unwavering support.

Earlier this week, we hosted our first International Women’s Day lunch and In Conversation with the inimitable @maryportasofficial and @vivgroskop at The Barbary Notting Hill, bringing together a brilliant group of women to share perspectives on leadership, collaboration, and the power of solidarity.

Today, on International Women’s Day, it feels even more meaningful to reflect on that conversation — and on the collective effort to create more opportunities for women.

Last week, Anna Watkins, MD of Barrafina Group, was invited to attend a tasting at the Spanish Embassy, celebrating excellence in Spanish wine. 🍷

Hosted by the Fundación Cultura de Vino and led by Master of Wine Jones Tofterup, the event showcased exceptional Spanish wines, including several Barrafina favourites.

Deputy Ambassador Jorge Cabrera praised the work of regional wineries and highlighted the importance of the British market for Spanish wines and Cavas, in which Barrafina guests play an integral role.

A huge thank you to the Embassy @spaininuk, @jonastofterupmw, @fundacionculturavino and to the wineries who continue to preserve, promote and enhance knowledge of Spanish wine.

La Temporada de La Matanza 🔥

Last week, we hosted a celebration of the Fiesta de La Matanza, a rural tradition marking the start of the pig-curing season, a time when families and neighbours come together to prepare the pig for the year ahead.

We feasted on a menu inspired by executive chef Francisco’s memories of La Matanza in his grandparent’s village of San Benito, Cuidad Real.

The evening began with a selection of cold cuts including white butifarra, morcon iberico and cured morcilla; tortas made with lard and topped with homemade chorizo, quail egg and served with a cocido broth; followed by five different premium chargrilled Iberian pork cuts, grilled until pink over coals.

Perfect rounds of chocolate ganache with orange and lemon peel finished what was a true revelry of the season.

We are pleased to announce that Barrafina will open its first international restaurant at DIFC Gate Village 01, Dubai, at the beginning of 2026.

This milestone, delivered in partnership with Anthem Hospitality Group, marks the beginning of Barrafina’s expansion across the GCC and its debut in the Middle East.

It is an important step in Harts Group’s international growth, bringing @barrafinalondon’s award-winning modern Spanish cuisine to a new market.

La Temporada de Atun 🐟🔥

May marks the start of the aldmadraba season, when bluefin tuna begin their journey along the coast to the Mediterranean Sea.

In Cádiz, it’s a time for celebration in every fishing town. Here in London we marked the occasion with our latest seasonal ‘La Temporada’ event: a fin to tail feast honouring this magnificent fish.

Our chefs prepared different cuts in styles to suit, with the Tarantelo (prized belly cuts) cooked by our guests over our bespoke grills, under sunny skies.
