This one is so special. 🕯️ With the help of our amazing friend @bell_star_tx, we have turned our front room into a community altar for all to add to this Second Saturday. On October 10th from 7PM to 11PM, stop by @souplaws and I’s open studio for a night of art, trick-or-treat goodie bags, an artisan market full of local vendors, and a community ofrenda where you can leave a photocopy of a loved one you would like to honor. No photo to bring? No worries. We will have cards available to write their names on instead. What a magical night for community. 🕯️ 📍 Studio Soupe | 120 E LaChapelle, San Antonio TX 78204 #SecondSaturday #Southtown #SanAntonioArt #SFlores #RailsToMurals

The last month and a half has been a whirlwind, to say the least. It's been a huge honor to have been recognized for the efforts that we, not just me, have put into @highvoltagemusicsa ... I'd like to say one last THANK YOU to celebrated Artist and recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship "genius grant," @vincentvaldez77 for our inclusion in his @aclutx series entitled, "The New Americans", designed as a "portrait of resistance" and a visual reflection of contemporary American life. It was a pleasure to be able to go to his print signings yesterday, where he sat for hours with a very long line throughout the afternoon. The second was a grand recognition by the @sanantonioriverwalk and @visitsanantonio in collaboration with @utsa (thank you @vgrodriguez ), and sponsored by @hennessy is being selected as one of six "Hispanic Heroes", kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month. Seeing my oversized portrait created by super talented muralist Crystal Tamez was a complete surprise! The whole installation at the @thestanthonyhotel on the Riverwalk was quite beautiful. Both were unexpected honors, which I don't take lightly. To that, I will say this program would not happen without the dedicated instructors who are professional touring musicians @odie.bossbass and @bigbadharv210 and many musicians!! This all comes while having our 10th Anniversary celebrating teaching youth in grades 7-12 to play an instrument at no cost, including instruments. Our students start the program by choosing an instrument, learning to play it, being grouped into bands, then ending the schoolyear with several events on professional stages throughout San Antonio, including our annual entrepreneurial event, Teens on a Mission. Our students love classic rock, metal, pop rock to punk rock, and are free to express their creative selves on stage! We're always in need of funding and support, including from private donors, to continue our mission as a no cost program, removing barriers to enrich students from underserved schools and communities who may not otherwise afford a music program. Help support the next generation of SA musicians! With Gratitude- Bell Solloa, Founder 🖤⚡️🎶

Annnd maybe dance a little while we’re at it 🤭 @souplaws and I are out here at @cherritybar supporting our friend @bell_star_tx with her nonprofit @highvoltagemusicsa. The High Voltage Music Program is a nonprofit dedicated to enriching the lives of underserved teens through the culture of music. Every donation goes to providing free lessons and instruments to San Antonio’s next generation of musicians. 💕 Music is such an important part of Soup and I’s lives. From our early morning coffee routines to late night work (and drinking 👀) sessions, we’re constantly playing music and bonding over discovering new artists. Donating art for her silent auction (happening NOW!) was an easy yes, but showing up and being a part of the nonprofits 10 year anniversary is an honor. Come by before 8pm today to be a part of something bigger, and maybe take home some goodies while you’re at it. 🥰 Like, share, and feel good about supporting our city’s music scene. 🤘🏽 #satxlocal #satxart #sanantoniotx #coupleartist #nonprofit

Today, we're highlighting the reason for the season...he is why High Voltage Music Program exists. My son Jeremy, who is a 2020 graduate at our longest standing school @idea.soflo and now is a substitute wherever needed for the program, as well as an integral part of staging for all our events. As an affluent songwriter, he is playing and recording with two bands that will be debuting soon, so stay tuned!
