Today is Salesforce AIforce World Tour Essentials at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney).

A smaller event than last year (maybe that’s why they’re call it Essentials), with a tighter agenda: one main keynote, then four 30-minute sessions on Agentforce, Marketing, Service and Slack. The closing session has attendees build their own AI agent live. There are also hands on workshops and live demos.

Our B2B clients run a range of CRMs. Salesforce is one of the most capable, best suited to larger organisations with complex sales cycles, multiple business units and investment in infrastructure to use it well. They do have offerings for small and mid-size businesses too.

The 1:30 marketing session, “A New Model for Growth,” is the one I came for. I want to see where the customer relationship sits in that model.

If you’re here, come and say hello. And if you’re trying to decide between HubSpot Zoho Salesforce or another platform send me a DM or comment below.

Is an MBA still relevant in the age of AI?

Eleven years ago I started the IE Business School and Brown University Executive MBA. The programme challenged my thinking on business, leadership and strategy but also emphasised the value of relationships.

In a world where AI is rapidly democratising access to knowledge, knowing something is becoming less of a competitive advantage. The ability to build trust, challenge perspectives, exercise judgement and bring people together is what differentiates us.

Eleven years on I’m so grateful for the people, perspectives and friendships that came from the experience.

Celebrating the launch of NZ Design Week 2027 last night at Lexus.

This year’s theme is Restore and Reimagine. It challenges us to consider how design can create more value from the resources and knowledge we already have.

New Zealand has traditionally relied on primary industries and tourism for export growth, and design represents another significant economic opportunity. Our creativity can travel globally creating commercial opportunities without relying on natural resources.

Congratulations to Jen Jones and the New Zealand Design Week team for building a platform that showcases our creative talent and contributes to economic growth.

Thanks also to Lexus New Zealand for hosting last night’s launch and committing to another three years of partnership.

With nine days of events, a two-day conference and an impressive international speaker lineup, 2027 is shaping up to be a fantastic programme.

Tickets are now on sale!

The department store is not dead, it has been reborn.

The new Faradays store in Auckland, located on the first floor of the restored Milne & Choyce building at 131 Queen Street, is a social destination and a space to escape the everyday.

With more than 220 brands, fine art, dining and product discovery across three levels and almost 3,000 square metres, Faradays brings retail and social interaction together in a space designed for people to spend time, explore and connect.

Congratulations to all the amazing humans that took a risk to make this beautiful space!

Rather than asking AI what I might have looked like in the 1980s here is the real thing.

This is me with Mum and Dad on the front lawn of our family home. Dad has always loved photography, so growing up we were fortunate to have plenty of moments like this captured.

That is what makes old photos valuable. They are not perfect reconstructions of the past, they are the past.

Perhaps the more synthetic the world becomes, the more valuable these real moments will be.

If you’re like me, we spend so much time thinking about how to allocate time and budget but perhaps energy is the more important resource?

Understanding what gives us energy and what takes it away. When I genuinely care about something the energy comes so naturally. Bringing together people who share that passion or compilent it and the effect compounds. Things that previously felt difficult suddenly feel possible.

Perhaps the trick is not simply managing our energy but being deliberate about who we create it with and what we choose to do with it.

Talent pipelines start years before the hire.

Two students join Human Digital this year through the Marketing Association’s Top Talent Marketing School: Rajat Bhatia from AUT and Jonathan Cardoso Mendes from the University of Auckland.

Bootcamps through September and November. A week embedded with our team after.

One of our best hires started exactly this way.

Have you believed in an idea so much you bet your house on it?

For some of the founders on stage at the Icehouse Ventures Showcase last night that has been their reality. Before the funding rounds, pitch decks and growing teams, these kiwis bootstrapped, borrowed, and worked multiple jobs to give their idea a chance.

The Kiwi founders presenting last night are solving extraordinary global problems across health, energy, waste, food, transport, education and space. I was inspired by the conviction they showed to keep going when success was not certain, money was tight and sensible people were telling them to stop.

Here’s to the founders, and the hard-working teams behind them, who refuse to quit.

Big thanks to Henry Onesemo for the delicious meal from Tala!
