Happy Wednesday! Nothing seems cozier than grabbing a book and enjoying the fall temperatures. While we're at it, how gorgeous is this surface bolt?!

I got a notice on Facebook today that we installed the 2009 Southern. Living Idea House 17 years ago today. It was located in Cinnamon Shore in Port Aransas, Texas. Cinnamon Shore looks completely different 17 years later with homes, pools, restaurants, shops etc. You can see in the photo back then it was a quiet place. We presented the concept of the design to a team at Southern Living in August of 2008 and the words were “you are young and fresh!” Well I will say we had a lot of good “ideas” including a few that were repeated by others in the blog world and later the Pinterest world. For instance the citron barn door… didn’t you see that repeated? We had an artist make antique mirror tile for kitchen backsplash for us because it wasn’t available in the marketplace. Now we can access it easily and use it all the time. Oh… and a banquette with the dining table! That was out of the box! When we found out we got the cover it was the cherry on top! Like the song says… These are the Good Days… even though I might not be as young and fresh we carry the memories and lessons forward.

Me and my best friend @hasselfox (and my son) having a fabulous dinner in the middle of Manhattan, with our beautiful wives and amazing children. Wally and I have talked every day since 1994, I believe without exception. Look at us now…not bad for some boys from Central Illinois—get you a friend like this #dcdtraveling
