Networking, Naked Sculptures & Being Yourself
For the Studio Draw(er) part of my conversation with Ross @drawanddeliver , I wanted to get into the things that sit underneath the polished work.

So we started with a question:
What does the creative industry promise us that it doesn't always deliver?

For Ross, part of the problem is the pressure to show up a certain way.

To speak a certain way.
To present yourself a certain way.
To follow the formats, trends and things that seem to get attention.

And while there's nothing wrong with experimenting with trends or trying different things, Ross has found that when you're doing it because you feel you have to in order to get noticed, something can start to disappear.
He talks about going through that himself — and how constantly adapting to what the algorithm or industry seems to want can slowly dilute your message and who you are.

Which led us to something I think a lot of creatives can relate to:

Maybe the answer isn't figuring out how to fit the mould better.
Maybe it's getting more comfortable with the fact that you don't.

Because, as Ross put it, it would be a lot easier if everyone was just a little bit more themselves.
And honestly, that's exactly why I wanted a Studio Draw(er) in the first place.
Not just the finished work.
The stuff underneath it.

From underground music scenes to spontaneous table tennis projects, Ross Martin's @drawanddeliver journey is a reminder that creativity often thrives not through strategy, but through curiosity, participation and a willingness to make things happen yourself.

What happens when you stop waiting for permission and start making things happen yourself?

In this episode of Creatively Eccentric, I’m joined by Ross Martin @drawanddeliver a freelance illustrator, designer and animator — for a conversation about finding your own creative lane, trusting your instincts and resisting the pressure to become what the creative industry expects you to be.

His creative journey was the shift from focusing solely on finished products to valuing the creative process itself. He highlighted his background in animation, which requires patience and a love for the process. “The joy of creating is in the process,”

We also get into animation, storytelling and world-building — and why leaving some things unresolved can give the audience space to bring their own interpretation to the work.
