Here we go! The B#ondi to Manly Ultra. The full 80ks. My first Ultra and all for Jack. What a journey it has been. The past few weeks have been crazy. I’ve been so inspired by 105 runners that we have running for Jack and running for Team Cure SCN2A. Long time Friends, Healthcare workers, Friends of Friends and Complete strangers have turned up and dedicated their time to help our little king.

I don’t think I’ve ever been prouder.

This is what I plan to consume tomorrow during the race. A huge shout out to all our sponsors for making this possible. You are all amazing.

You can have the best training plan in the world, but if you’re not fueling your body properly, you’re leaving performance on the table. 👀

And I think a lot of us (myself included 🙋‍♀️) spend WAY more time thinking about our workouts than we do about how we’re fueling them.

But as I’ve gotten more serious about HYROX, I’ve realized that nutrition deserves just as much attention as my training.

Fuelin athlete | The Fuel Diary — 01.

What I ate in the lead-up to Saturday’s race.

Scrambled eggs with cottage cheese and a bowl of Cini Minis. Chicken and rice for lunch. Pasta, beef or chicken at dinner. Original Rice Krispies and gels in between.

The carousel shows my complete Monday–Saturday food logs alongside my Fuelin targets. Friday: 449 g of carbs against a 450 g target. I didn’t hit every target, and the numbers reflect that.

Saturday’s figures cover the whole day, including after the race.

Everything I ate & drank during my Kona Ironman 🌺🔥

I’m SO happy with how my nutrition went this race. Kona threw conditions at me I couldn’t control (like getting sea sick), but I knew the one thing I could control was my fueling. So I stuck to the plan, exactly how I’d tested it over and over in training and knew it worked.

Ironman is a looong day. I knew that if I wasn’t on top of my nutrition in hour 1, hour 10 was going to hurt.

For the last year I’ve been using Fuelin, which syncs with my TrainingPeaks and tells me exactly what to eat before, during, and after every session. So my race day plan was not a suprise, it was exactly what I practiced. Some small tweaks were made for Kona conditions including increasing my overall sodium and fluids.

I love talking about this part of Ironman since I used to struggle so much in my training with how to fuel so ask me any questions!

“Swim, Bike, Run - Like a Girl:” That finish line smile when you play the hand you’re dealt and come up short (or so I thought at first). Placed 14th age group at the @ironmantri World Championship.

After last year’s race when it was announced that the men and women would rejoin for one day of racing, I didn’t need a crystal ball to tell me how hard our ongoing work would be to protect the self-belief we all created in women around the world (and to continue to nurture the self-belief that has yet to blossom) during three years of women’s-only world championship racing. Don’t get me wrong, strong women and our allies are always carrying the torch. However, especially significant gains were made from 2023 to 2025 when the last three women’s world championships took place that should continue to be celebrated as an important historical milestone for women’s racing that will lead to greater equity in the sport for generations to come.

Oct. 10 marked my fourth-consecutive world championship, this time alongside men (and many fewer women). It was everything you’d want in a world championship (see comments). I didn’t podium or set a personal record, but actually realized I didn’t have to do either to “win” the day.

My teenage nieces spectated the 2025 women’s race and this year’s combined race. They even got a photo with 2025 champion, Solveig Lovseth, who started her sporting career as a swimmer, just like them. So this year, they cheered Solveig as she barreled down Palani toward the finish. Then, after she fell, they watched her get back up and eventually cross the finish line with a smile on her face.

“Swim, Bike, Run Like a Girl,” Solveig voiced as she somehow found added strength to read the words on my niece’s sign out loud as she passed her on Ali’i. Solveig embodied the allyship we need. In fact, every woman who took on this race showed what it means to swim, bike and run like a girl.

While we have more work to do, we can have confidence that (so far) we have stayed true to our duty. We’ve protected the self-belief we created and nurtured that which has yet to blossom.

Now less than 2 weeks to go til the biggest run of my life. Hard to fathom running 80km yet as Nedd said, it’s only 80km 😂

It has not been plain sailing with groin, hip, shin and toe issues along the way. Saying that, no excuses and it’s going to be a great day out there for me and our 100 runners doing it for Jack and Team Cure SCN2A 👊❤️

That was hard. I felt I needed to finish for my family, and to show my kids if you can complete something, do it. I haven’t dnf’d an Ironman yet, and wouldn’t here unless it was dangerous for me, or I physically couldn’t. I wanted to quit a lot…

Swim was good enough, but man was I over the limit in town. Felt like I was already overheating. Picked up my first ever drafting penalty for not dropping back fast enough. I felt I did and the light stayed red longer with athletes passing ahead, but I need to make it clear to the officials. Rallied for a strong ride into town from about halfway up the Hawi climb.

The run started ok, but went downhill. Not what I’m capable of, but Kona doesn’t care. Some class performances up front.

Thanks to everyone for the support. My family, team, and everyone who backs me. It means a lot. It’s tough to put a lot into a race, and seemingly not get anything back.
