"Are these forever drugs?”

It’s the question you ask us more than any other — five of you wrote in about it last week alone.

Giles’s answer is that for a lot of people, yes, probably, at least based on what we know at the present moment. Not necessarily as an injection, but as something you stay on.

We’re conditioned to think of treatment as a course you finish. Nobody asks someone on blood pressure medication when they’re planning to stop. But GLP1s feel different. Why? It probably says more about how we think about weight and personal responsibility than it does about the drug itself.
