POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Time for another artist intro, this time from our prop design department! Meet @iva.artnimation (and yes for those unaware, black dogs are indeed a type of cryptid from British and Irish folklore 👀)

‘Hello, I’m Iva, a UK based designer and animator and currently part of the prop and background design team for New Earth! I love creating a moody and atmospheric art the most and I’m a sucker for good lighting. When I’m not drawing, you can catch me reading yet another fantasy book or hanging out with friends!’

We are excited to share our latest short film, Beyond Averages, which recently had a small festival run!

"On an ordinary night in rural Wales, Sarah’s life takes an unexpected turn when she is visited by an extra-terrestrial being tasked with observing an average member of the human species. Offended by the label of 'average,' Sarah continues her daily routine, unaware of the profound impact her seemingly ordinary life has on her observer."

Written and directed by me, Charlie Miller, during lockdown, this project was brought to life by a fantastic team who collaborated to create something truly special. We can’t wait for you to see it!

Cast:
Sarah - Rosie Sheehy
Crew:
Animation - Jake Harvey, Robyn Liebschner, Tom Mathieson, Iva Borisova, Nicky (Seymour) Alloway, Ewan Schwarz, Guilherme Milego, Tom Cushing, Leah Panigada - Carey
Animation Director - Harry Slinger-Thompson
Art Director - Nila Wood
Background Designer - Iva Borisova
Compositing - Ashley Howard
Sound Design - James Keeble
Music - Matt Loveridge
Production Coordinator - Paula Kate Hepburn

This time last week some of the Scribbleroom team were just getting started on this years Cardiff Quickdraw! It was a roller coaster of emotion, but they managed this lovely little short piece by the end of the 48 hours. We hope you enjoy it as much as the team did making it!

Wiff Waff 2🏓

We've dropped our second installment of our community challenge Wiff Waff. We reached out to our animation community and asked people to animate one second, 25 frames of a table tennis rally. And this is the very entertaining result.

All creators are tagged in their submissions so give them a follow if you love their work.

🔥Mrs. Wordsmith - "Readiculous" has landed!🔥

After 14 months of collaboration with @mrswordsmith_ to produce a whopping 242 (yes, you read that right, 242!) animated inserts for their game, we have reached the finish line. It has been an incredibly creative and collaborative journey, with both companies working tirelessly to create a whimsical, fun-filled animated experience for all the kids playing the game.

"Readiculous" is an educational game-based app designed to help children master their reading skills.

These 242 thirty-second animations amount to just over 2 hours of content, reminiscent of early 2000s Saturday morning cartoons. We had a dedicated and fantastic team working on this project, including:

Scribble Room Team:
Producer: Charlie Miller
Animation Director: Harry Slinger-Thompson
Lead Animator: Jake Harvey
Production Coordinator: Paula Hepburn
Animation Team: Nick Seymour, Gui Milego, Tom Mathieson, Ewan Schwartz, Robyn Liebschner, Iva Borisova, Tom Cushing, Sarah Benson
Compositing & Edit: Scribble Room

The Mrs. Wordsmith team was responsible for background art, character design, storyboards, and sound.

We hope you enjoy this sizzle reel! More Mrs. Wordsmith content is on the way!

The saying goes that if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life.

Obviously complete babbling nonsense coined by someone with no comprehension of the average television series production pipeline.

But if you're lucky enough to be surrounded by brilliant people it makes the work something to look forward to every day.

Cheers and restrained sentimentality to a superb team whose collective attitude and work ethic is second to none. I came onto this gig during a bit of a low moment and y'all helped lift me out of it.

Here's hoping our paths all cross again soon

Artist Spotlight - Iva Borisova

We've had the pleasure of working with the very talented Iva since November 2022. She's been an integral part of the team, working on a multitude of projects: background designing, prop building, character animating. We couldn't have been happier having her join the Scribble Room crew. We wish her all the best in her next animation job in Bristol, and we hope to have her back in the team again soon.

along with seven other animated grad films from aub, heartwood has won an award at the world film carnival in singapore wooo!! 🇸🇬💫 more specifically the ‘outstanding achievement award’, which is really flattering - we couldn’t be more grateful!

WFCS is a monthly live screening film festival where more than 50 films from the different categories are selected, and from which at least one per category is awarded!🏅
all the monthly winners automatically qualify for the annual live screening gala in the lion city 👀 and can be nominated for the prestigious ‘golden merlion awards’‼️ the annual event is a glamorous red carpet premiere with press conferences and gala parties in singapore in the presence of international movie celebrities and media (wow)! so wish us luck!
