Having someone listen without judgement can make a real difference. Across our global business, more than 150 Mental Health First Aiders are helping to create a culture where asking for support feels safe and normal.

To mark World Mental Health Day, we spoke with four of our MHFA’s about why they volunteer for the program and what supporting others means to them. Their message is simple - you don’t have to face challenges alone.

Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of hosting clients and friends at @hollandandholland1835 for a clay pigeon shoot.

It was fantastic to catch up with long standing clients and meet new faces. We hope to keep building bridges, or staircases. 😉

What a great way to mark 20 years of Smet staircases and to celebrate the people who have supported us along the way. 🍾

Projects don’t usually fail because change happened.

They fail because the right people didn’t know it happened soon enough.

A delivery date moves.
A specification is revised.
An approval arrives late.
A commitment no longer matches the programme.

Individually, these can seem small.

But when change isn’t visible, understood and acted on, it becomes delay, dispute and cost.

That’s the shift behind S2S Autopilot.

Instead of asking teams to constantly check, chase and reconcile what’s changed, S2S watches the commitments in the background and surfaces the exceptions that actually need attention.

Less noise.
Earlier visibility.
Better decisions.

Construction doesn’t need another system demanding attention.

It needs a system that knows when attention is required.

Construction Commitment Management.

A big thank you to our volunteers supporting food collections at Borough Market this Zero Waste Week!

Every collection makes a difference, helping good surplus food find a home in the community instead of going to waste. We really appreciate the time, care and commitment our volunteers bring to making this happen.

Shout out to the teams from @multiplexconstruction_uk, Opera and @recorrauk for supporting our collections this week - we are so grateful!

Thank you for being part of the Plan Zheroes team!

💧 This World Water Week, we’re turning our attention to a resource under increasing strain from one of the built environment’s fastest growing infrastructures: data centres.

Every day, a single large data centre can use up to 20 million litres of water, comparable to the daily consumption of an entire town of 10,000-50,000 people.

As demand for cloud computing and AI accelerates, the cooling needs of data centres are placing growing strain on water resources, often in places already facing water stress. Open-loop or evaporative cooling systems in particular rely on continuous water abstraction and discharge, and can risk releasing heated water or chemical residues into local waterways.

But this is a problem that can be solved.

Our recent Greening Data Centres digital resource sets out nine best-practice policy principles for governments and industry to make data centres more sustainable. These include limits on potable water use and transparent reporting of both water usage effectiveness (WUE) and absolute consumption, in addition to efficiency ratios, to fully reflect a facility’s impact on local water resources.

This approach is already in motion, with the EU’s Energy Efficiency Directive now mandating public WUE reporting for data centres with a power demand above 500kW, part of the bloc’s wider commitment to climate-neutral data centres by 2030.

🔗 Discover more about how better planning, design and policy can help transform data centres from high-impact infrastructure into resilient, responsible assets in our Greening Data Centres resource via the link in our bio
