One of the biggest things I love about this country is the unapologetic pursuit of excellence. It’s probably why the US has innovated and moves mankind forward more than any nation in human history. It’s the entrepreneurial spirit, that love of the journey as the gurus put it. Stemming from the pioneers and frontiersman who journeyed across oceans and unknown lands to make a better life for their families - our forefathers. Nobody was there to help them. You survived or you died. And a lot did. I think that’s where the American spirit truly comes from. Defying the impossible when everything around you is at your throat. Of course we’ll stumble, and yes we make mistakes and fall along the way. No one’s perfect, but how else do you expect to learn and grow stronger? Thats why it’s the PURSUIT of excellence. A stoic philosophy our Founding Fathers knew all too well. So grow stronger, learn, and become more than who you are today. It’s the American way. 🦅 Happy Independence Day America. 🇺🇸 My home. I didn’t realize how integral our company values and culture system would be to The Upstate Sound Music Group until recently. What started as a simple internal framework has now become a defining part of our business culture, leadership philosophy, and brand identity. We even turned it into a slogan: “Raise Your Flag 🏴‍☠️ Keep To The Code.” At its core, this means: chase your dreams, build your business, stay grounded, know yourself, and lead with integrity. What makes this powerful is not that it’s a new idea. It’s that it’s written down. That’s what turns personal beliefs into organizational values and ideas into scalable systems. At The Upstate Sound, we call this The Upstate Codex. It is our internal culture code, leadership framework, and decision-making guide. We made it public so everyone on our team, from interns to executives, knows exactly how we operate, how we treat people, and how we make decisions. When there is a communication issue, we look to the Codex. When there is a leadership or focus issue, we look to the Codex. When there is a conflict, partnership decision, or moment of pressure, we look to the Codex. That’s what real company culture is: A set of written principles and values that guide behavior when things get hard. Every business should have one. Every startup, record label, creative agency, and entrepreneur should have a clear values system, leadership code, and cultural framework. Even relationships and partnerships need a shared code because growth, change, and pressure are inevitable. Your values are what keep you grounded when everything else shifts. That is how you build long-term success, a loyal team, and a strong brand. And honestly… We did a pretty damn good job with this one 😁

📌 OFFICE HOURS “What should I include in my artist bio?” Your bio isn’t just a cute intro — it’s how industry people decide whether to care. 🧠 A great bio should include: ✔️ Where you’re from ✔️ What you sound like ✔️ What makes you different ✔️ Real milestones (not dreams) ✔️ What’s coming next Stop writing bios like diary entries. Start writing them like a publicist would. If it reads: “Emerging artist fusing genres and chasing dreams…” 🛑 Rewrite it. 🎯 Keep it short. Make it memorable. 📣 Tell us why we should pay attention.

December 17, 2025 Nashville, TN UPDATE: The Upstate Sound Music Group I read a quote the other day on a statue outside a building I thought was quite profound. It was a lesson in business, which I may have subconsciously known, but only recently realized I try to lead by. I’m going to butcher it, but it went something like this: “Focus not on building the business, focus on building its people.” I’ve had the privilege of seeing the results of that approach over the past few months. Knowing it takes around two years (in my experience) to break old habits, we’re at about the 18-month mark since bringing on our first crew members. Already, they have grown into the men and women needed to sail The Upstate Sound into the future. From attending networking events and scheduling meetings with industry leaders on their own, to producing showcases, entire fashion shows, and leading interns for the first time. There’s no way to measure how proud I am of them. 2026 will be a defining year for The Upstate Sound and her crew, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of our country. We’ll host many more events, led by our Event Manager and LIVE crew. Greater presence on the West Coast in talent representation and management. More global growth led by our Division leaders across the UK, LATAM, Korea, and Christian Music. More content and stories from our Studios crew, led by our new Studio Manager. More education for young artists who need guidance. And more signings, more partnerships, and more crew-building moments I can’t wait for! Even as we enter the age of AI and its inevitable impact on every industry, the future doesn’t scare me at all. Whatever lies beyond this morning, The Upstate Sound and her crew will be ready to take on the world with clear purpose, grounded by a code and a black flag. After all, we’re naught but humble Pirates 🏴‍☠️ David M. Mysliwiec Jr. A letter from the captain
