Gabriel Jason Dean and I about to go live on BBC Radio’s Front Row! Gabriel is the playwright of RIFT that’s playing at the @traversetheatre and both his play and #CHARLOTTESVILLE tackle themes of white supremacy at this year’s @edfringe. A bigger coincidence is that we’re both Pennsylvania residents and practically neighbors! It was a pleasure sharing the mic (literally!) in conversation with BBC Front Row’s main presenter Tom Sutcliffe who I was honored to have in the audience last week! For those who couldn’t tune in, visit bbc.co.uk later tonight or stay tuned to my posts! We have warmed the seats for Brian Cox of Succession fame who will be on the show tomorrow! Also pictured is some silliness in their TV studio that we got a tour of after the interview 😂

Showing up at the theatre is an act of resistance. We’ve got some critical conversations lined up about the transformative power of storytelling and activism. On March 23rd, join us for a post-show discussion with Pamela S. Nadell, a leading scholar in American Jewish history. Then, on April 13th, we’ll be joined by leading trial lawyer Karen L. Dunn, who secured a landmark victory for the plaintiffs injured during the 2017 ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville, along with April Muñiz, a counter-protester and plaintiff in the civil trial, and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Kristi Jacobson, director of HBO’s No Accident, the documentary covering the trial.

A packed house, a brilliant director, an absolutely FANTASTIC cast every single one of them, a theatre and an artistic home where I feel loved and supported, friends who show up to see my art every single time, my peers from our playwriting cohorts at Azuka being such an encouraging presence, and a super loving and supportive partner who is my biggest cheerleader. The most heartwarming thing I heard today - the cast was so committed to this piece and were so nervous about doing right by it that they huddled together as a group, chanted, boosted each other’s morale and totally KILLED IT on stage. I love you all! This READING of Marjorie is Dead at AzukaFest was so wholesome I can’t even imagine what a full production will be. I really can’t ask for more. Thank you @azukatheatre for this experience - I have no words. Someone pinch me, because this feels unreal. I love you all and I’m so so happy and grateful and overwhelmed!

My week in pictures! Had such a blast sharing the latest version of #CHARLOTTESVILLE as part of a special reading at @enactearts' Jean-Claude Carriére Festival of New Works. Got to work with @reena.dutt for the very first time and had a total blast, I see more collaborations and many more crispy dosas in our future 😄🥰 Got to meet @sonamkalraofficial years after I saw her perform at a music festival in Ooty that our team at @wtsindia covered as official partners! It was truly special to share new writing with a wonderful audience. Thank you @vinita.belani and the entire team at Enacte Arts for making this happen ❤️ Back to the drawing board as I continue to hone and craft this piece before its 2025 World Premiere!! More soon 😍😍😍
