It was a blessing to gather with our community last night for a screening of Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother, hosted in partnership with @pillarsfund.

The film’s exploration of family, identity, faith, and purpose, the film gave us much to sit with. The conversation afterward—featuring Dr. Otis Moss III, Dr. Kameelah Mu'Min Oseguera, and Che "Rhymefest" Smith—reminded us of the power of our stories. Only through connecting our narratives can we deepen our understanding of both the themes we witnessed and the ways they bond us together.

We’re grateful to Pillars Fund, our panelists, and everyone who joined us for the thoughtfulness they brought to the evening.

Every young person’s story deserves to be written, spoken, & heard ❤️👏🏾

Today I co-led a writers workshop for teens + tweens at the Obama Presidential Library, where they created their own Bio Poems: who they are, where they come from, and who they’re becoming 🥹✍🏾

Grateful to @rhymefest for the space to pour into these young writers. My teacher heart is full ✨

Leadership is about bringing people together and doing the work to move a vision forward. This next chapter for Chicago Public Schools will require collaboration, accountability, and a relentless focus on the students and families we serve.

I’m grateful to have served alongside Dr. Che ‘Rhymefest’ Smith on the Chicago Board of Education and even more grateful for his trust in my leadership.
