PROCESS MANUAL is a mid-career retrospective of the design work of Sandy Uhrich. Throughout his two decade tenure in American DIY arts communities, Sandy has designed more than 250 shirts and show fliers for events and artists all over the US. This exhibition will feature a selection of these as well as an exploration of the manual processes used to create the work.

Over the past decade, utilizing photographs, found source material, clip art, thermal and inkjet printers, stickers, markers, exact-o knives, screen printing, sewing, and evasion of copyright laws, Sandy has maintained an archive of many of the different components of these collages.

This show will offer an intimate look into the methods used in his work, showing resources before and after they’ve been processed through the various channels Sandy uses to degrade, distort, and reinvent them in his signature style.

PROCESS MANUAL is a loveletter to luddite technology, DIY, and the freak network Sandy exists within.

The show will be on view at This and That in Minneapolis from September 5th-30th, 2026.

There will be an opening reception on September 12 from 6-9 PM featuring musical performances of some of Sandy’s commissioners.

On September 27th there will be a presentation by Sandy about the development of his creative process and a Q+A session from 5-6PM followed by a closing reception from 6-9PM.

Sandy was born in Bloomington, MN in 1990. He is a graduate of Perpich Center for Arts Education and holds a BFA in Photography from San Francisco Art Institute.

He has performed in bands Royal Brat, Rinse, and Hippyfuckers. He co-ran No Problem Records, a cassette tape label. He currently runs the clothing brand Truthlizard.

He makes all of his work in his home studio in North Minneapolis. His first remembered punk show was seeing Formaldehyde Junkies at Twin Cities Underground in 2004.
