A day off the clock with Shankie, the man behind the bar🍸
Earlier this month we spent a day with him exploring Delhi’s coolest spaces and the night that followed? Pure madness (the good kind).

today’s his birthday so everyone say HBD to him in the comments @shankie.dankie πŸͺ©βœ¨πŸ»

A neighbourhood spot in the truest sense. We went for coffee and a slow chat with their witty co-founder Abhishek. We ended up returning for an ear-numbing gig.

Read about all about @shackhq at the link in our bio to see what gives.

blessed and tired af!!! πŸ« πŸ’•

Setting up for π—•π—¨π—šπ—¦! π™’π™šβ€™π™§π™š π˜Όπ™‘π™‘ π˜Ύπ™€π™£π™£π™šπ™˜π™©π™šπ™™ over the last 2.5 days has been a pretty good exercise in trusting the process.

All the bts was shot on @goproindia Mission 1 Pro & lemme tell you im a big fan!! I usually get so engrossed in making the work that i forget filming the process! Propping this comapct camera to make timelapses was sooo easy. 🀳

It starts with β€œwhat if we made our own compound eyes for people to look through the window?” thought at 4am and somehow ends with β€œokay, let’s find a local laser cutter and make it happen tomorrow.”

The original idea was to take over the room and turn it into an ecosystem of its own. Grass on the floor, warm yellow behind the artworks and a perfect blue sky with β€œbugs!” floating around as clouds. Then naughty girls like @sheuwuli come along with genius ideas like an entire ant-hill storage room, and suddenly the plan has evolved again. Labour intensive? Extremely. Worth it? Also extremely.

That’s been the best part of building this show. An open-ended starting point, fifteen very different artists, and a room that kept changing as more people brought their ideas into it. A bit like a kaleidoscopic view of the world that the works in the show also explore.

The night before opening, I briefly considered calling the whole thing off over a few last-minute hiccups. Naturally, we fixed them the next morning. Just in time.

Thank you to everyone who helped turn the vision into something we could actually walk into. From sourcing sand for the ant hill at the local park to cutting AstroTurf around the room’s jagged corners, every little thing found its way into the final picture.

The exhibit is best experienced in person. Come look closer through the fesnel lenses hanging on the wall, change your perspective, and let the ecosystem take over for a bit.

There is an anthropological curiosity to the show. We observe other species, assign meaning to their behaviour and find patterns that remind us of ourselves.

What’s exciting about the accessibility of @shacocohq is that it’s a space where art collectors, gallery regulars, neighbourhood families and anyone passing through the lanes of Shahpur Jat can experience the show together.

The show is on view daily, from 3rd - 11th October, 10am to 7pm at Shacoco in Shahpurjat, New Delhi.

I am pleased to invite you to π—•π—¨π—šπ—¦! π™’π™šβ€™π™§π™š π˜Όπ™‘π™‘ π˜Ύπ™€π™£π™£π™šπ™˜π™©π™šπ™™, a group print exhibition bringing together the works of 15 visual artists from across India.

The exhibition uses the often-overlooked insect world as a kaleidoscopic lens through which we explore subjects including gender, identity, agency, love and social structures. Across the works, insects become both inspiration and metaphor, opening up different ways of thinking about our relationships with one another and the environments we inhabit.

Each artist has created an exclusive new work for the exhibition, unveiled publicly for the first time. The works interpret the theme through each artist’s own visual language and practice.
