OH!Tanglung at The High Street Studios for KL Festival 2026

Do you still remember the way you weave when the seasons arrive?
Come, sit for a while with OH!Tanglung, now until 12 June ’26

OH!Tanglung is an intimate installation by Sumay Cheah, presented as a prelude to OH!Tenang: Tanglung Stories, unfolding in Penang later this year.

Paying homage to everyday craft, shaped by the hands of ordinary people, the installation draws inspiration from the Wau, traditional kite from Malaysia. Skeletal Tanglung structures are suspended in space, each line gently held together as one would bind a Wau, formed through thread and Chinese knotting.

Inspired by my late grandfather,
and his seasons of weaving as a way of life.
Time was never measured,
only felt in how things form, age, remain, and renew.

Take home a flower bookmark
In collaboration Studio Kozé whose scent fills the space and by using OtherHalf’s unused threads, OH!Kindness Ripples invites visitors to take home a small flower bookmark, a gesture of quiet blessing and exchange.

Shanghai Dreaming arrives at The Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur.

A listening night by Softerfields and OtherHalf Studio, set inside The Library, where old Shanghai songs, Wong Kar-wai’s cinematic longing, scent, knotting and late-night atmosphere come together.

For one evening, the room becomes a small world of soft lamps, dark timber, shí dài qǔ, film music, and memories that feel half-remembered.

With co-curation by @_jjtan of Softerfields & @sumayc of OtherHalf Studio, scent by Studio Kozé, and a setting shaped by the OH! Tanglung installation at The Chow Kit.

Throwback to Tutur Tulus, installation by BYO Living, designed by @anom_works at ARCH:ID 2026.

Conceived as a spatial journey, the installation brought together weaving, light, material, and movement into one continuous experience. Through translucent screens, red architectural gestures, and intimate inner rooms, visitors were invited to move through fragments of craft, memory, and making.

Within this setting, works by Ardhi Ismana, May Masutani, and Sumay Cheah became part of the conversation, extending Tutur Tulus as a meeting point between architecture and artistic practice.

Memory’s Landscape brings together works from the @stevewongartcollection Art Collection,
unfolding the connections between
memory and place ; both personal and collective.

Featuring 20 artworks by 19 visual artists,
the exhibition reflects on how landscapes become
vessels of emotion, time, and remembrance.
