✨ What an incredible evening last night at the VIP launch of The Light, Durham’s new cultural destination. It was such a privilege to be there as Victory Over the Sun: Encounters with Light opened - a spectacular exhibition bringing together artists from around the world to explore light in all its forms: as material, illusion, experience and metaphor. I’m delighted to see my work Our Spectral Vision included in this remarkable exhibition, alongside artists including Tracey Emin, Olafur Eliasson, Dan Flavin, Steve McQueen, @tinebechstudio, @hilaryjack_, @chilaburman and @stuarthaygarth 💥 Huge congratulations to everyone at The Light (@tonyguillan, @spacecommando et al) and to curator Natasha Howes (@nkhowes) for bringing this extraordinary exhibition together. It was wonderful to celebrate the opening and to see this exciting new space come alive. 💫 Victory Over the Sun: Encounters with Light 📍 The Light, Durham 📅 22 August 2026 – 17 January 2027 #TheLightDurham #VictoryOverTheSun #OurSpectralVision #LightArt #ContemporaryArt 📷: @thingsthatgoonthings

Light Night Wigan is back in November, and this time a giant earth is coming to Wigan. If you remember the Floating Earth over at Pennington Flash a few years ago, Luke Jerram, the artist behind that is bringing another of his earths (Gaia) to The Old Courts. There'll be the usual trail in Mesnes Park, displays in Sir Billy Boston Square, Wigan Museum will be lit up, along with The Royal Court Theatre, and Makinson Arcade, Wigan Museum. It's free, but you need tickets for Mesnes Park.. link in the comments. Also, there will be some new Borough Icons this year, on the judging panel is Richard Ashcroft, after he was turned into a light up icon last year. (this photo of the earth, it's NOT this one, this one is a specially designed floating one... Gaia will be hung from the ceiling in the court room... should look spectacular!) More details in link in story ❤️ #wigan #lightnight
