It’s so much better when the whole friend group is locked in and ready for November 3rd!

When you look at your monthly expenses, it’s no secret that existing as a young adult in Michigan hits different right now. From skyrocketing rent across Metro Detroit and Lansing to high gas prices at the pump, student debt, and rising utility rates, the financial squeeze on our generation is real. But sitting out doesn't pause the bills or fix our schools; showing up at the polls is how we demand an economy that actually works for us.

Every decision made on housing regulations, state education budgets, and public transit funding comes directly from the leaders we choose to elect.

October 19th is the deadline to register online or by mail. Be prepared to vote and set the agenda for our communities!

Taking six figures from oil and gas companies who jack up prices, and then having your wife send out $10 gas cards to working Black families in Detroit is wild behavior.

Mike Rogers’ career is bankrolled by the very oil and gas lobbies driving up costs for everyday Michiganders. While he votes to keep gas prices high and protect corporate profits, he thinks a $10 publicity stunt will make voters forget who created the problem in the first place.

Politicians backed by corporate lobbies won’t lower our cost of living—showing up at the polls is how we demand real accountability. The deadline to register online or by mail is October 19th! Check your voter status right now at Vote.org or the Michigan Voter Information Center.

Yes it’s that serious- J. Cole says he once drove 11 hours from New York back to his hometown in North Carolina just to vote.

NC Last day to register is Friday ⭐️ 10/9

That’s a long drive for one ballot, but it’s also a reminder of how personal voting can be when the issues on the ballot affect the places we call home.

Trying to invest your money in 2026 be like 😭

This scene from Atlanta aired a decade ago and somehow feels even more relatable now. In Season 1’s “The Streisand Effect,” Earn, played by Donald Glover, needs money immediately to help take care of himself, Van and their daughter Lottie. Darius, played by LaKeith Stanfield, helps turn what would’ve been quick cash from Earn’s phone into an investment that could make him thousands... except Earn won’t see the money until months later.

That’s when Earn makes the point that people struggling financially don’t always have the luxury of waiting for an investment to pay off when food, rent and other bills need to be handled today. Created by Donald Glover, Atlanta premiered on FX in 2016 and was actually shot on location around Atlanta, Georgia. The series follows Earn as he tries to build a career managing his cousin Paper Boi while navigating money, family and life in Atlanta.

Ten years later and this scene still hits. 😭

Can’t even judge Reggie because a cookout plate can absolutely become lunch for the next two
Days. 😭

Diarra From Detroit has been giving us Detroit humor since it premiered in 2024, with creator
and star Diarra Kilpatrick building the mystery-comedy around the city and its culture. Season 2
takes the crew even deeper into Detroit, including this episode set around Brightmoor.

And the joke hits a little harder in Detroit right now. Food prices in the Detroit metro area were
up 2.8% year over year this spring, with meats, poultry, fish and eggs up 7.3% and fruits and
vegetables up 4.6%.

So yeah… go ahead and grab that second to-go plate.😭

Who else is leaving the function with tomorrow’s lunch secured?

Filling up your tank and paying your DTE bill is taking a HUGE chunk outta our paychecks. 😭

Michigan’s affordability crisis is hitting even harder across the state. Average gas prices for Michigan drivers are around $4.40 to $6.55 a gallon at least—that’s over $1.30 more per gallon than last year just to commute to work, run errands, or get across town.

Add in DTE Energy continuously pushing for multi-hundred million dollar rate hikes year after year, and young adults in Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, and Lansing are getting squeezed from every direction. When utility bills jump alongside gas prices and rent, staying afloat in Michigan feels like playing life on hard mode.

This is what happens when corporate-friendly policies keep winning. 👀
Michigan regulators approved $242.4M in additional annual revenue for DTE, raising the typical residential bill by about $4.93/month. The “infrastructure investment” agenda sounds a lot different when you’re the one footing the bill.
And DTE came back asking for another $474.3M just two months later.
If Republicans keep pushing this agenda, Michiganders should pay attention to what’s actually showing up on their bills and what’s on the ballot. 🗳️

That grocery bill looking a little too familiar? 😭
Michigan’s affordability problem is real. In the Detroit area, grocery prices were up 4.8% year over year as of June, with some everyday food categories climbing even more.
Now we’re 28 days from Election Day.
If the cost of groceries, gas, housing and health care is affecting your everyday life, this is probably a good time to look at what’s on your ballot and what each candidate is actually proposing.
Because whatever comes next, we’re the ones living with it.
Nov. 3. 👀

Kandi Burruss has been giving us reaction memes for over 15 years. 😂🍑

The Atlanta native joined The Real Housewives of Atlanta in Season 2 back in 2009, already a Grammy-winning songwriter and member of Xscape. Over the years, Kandi became one of the most recognizable faces of RHOA while continuing to build her career across music, television, Broadway and business.

From iconic one-liners to building an entire Kandi universe in Atlanta, her impact goes way beyond reality TV. 👏🏾

And clearly, the old RHOA clips still hit. 😂
