Wrapping up an incredible residency at AMA House Athens, as I prepare for our group exhibition opening on November 6. If I had to describe these past weeks in one sentence: I felt like I was inside a bubble of sanity. I’m deeply grateful to the entire AMA House team for the endless support, generosity, and love. For the extraordinary people I met here, the conversations, encounters, and discoveries and for being introduced to such a unique, intelligent, and inspiring art scene. And a very special thank you to the one and only @vicky_pistachio who invited me and guided this entire journey from beginning to end… and to the brilliant artist and friend @maromichalakakos whom I met at @iscp NY . I leave feeling connected, part of something, and very excited for what is still to come. My new works, Empty Coat and Nifemi (2026), created during this residency, will be presented in the upcoming exhibition alongside many other works. More details very soon. On Wednesday, artist @ruthi_helbitz_cohen resident at @amahouse.art and curator @vicky_pistachio came to my studio. What stayed with me from our conversation is that art cannot remain indifferent to the injustices and suffering around us. It should be willing to speak, to question, and to disturb — not only make the art market happy. Until we are all free! Thanks ❤️

OPEN STUDIO | AMA House Autumn Art Residency 🍂 On Saturday, 3 October 2026, from 12 PM to 3 PM, AMA House opens its doors to the public for an Open Studio with artist-in-residence Ruthi Helbitz Cohen (@ruthi_helbitz_cohen ) ✨ During her residency in Athens, Ruthi Helbitz Cohen has been developing new work and research that continues her exploration of femininity, gender, and the cultural frameworks surrounding the representation of women. For the Open Studio, she will share a selection of recent works and the research developed during her time at AMA House, offering visitors an opportunity to encounter her ongoing artistic process. AMA House Autumn Art Residency 🍂 We are excited to welcome artist and professor Ruthi Helbitz Cohen (@ruthi_helbitz_cohen )to Athens for a two-week art residency at AMA House! ✨ Emphasizing engagement and exchange, AMA House fosters exhibition-making and artist residencies. As part of our Autumn programming, associated curator Vicky Tsirou (@vicky_pistachio )has invited Ruthi Helbitz Cohen for a tailor-made residency programme. Ruthi’s multidisciplinary practice explores the female body, identity, mythology, and the emotional complexities of the human condition. Through paintings, installations, sculptures, and works on paper, she creates haunting and poetic worlds where beauty and discomfort coexist—challenging perceptions of femininity, vulnerability, and power.  Through exposure to fear and doubt, the women Cohen portrays seek answers and, perhaps, refuge. ‘Enfolding’ 〰️ A thread-pulled composition that brings my illustrative textile technique into a new, dimensional form. The curving metal rods, enclosed within the fabric, created a challenging and interactive new approach. . Πέρα από τον Αργαλειό | Beyond the Loom Η φιλοξενία της έκθεσης «Πέρα από τον Αργαλειό | Beyond the Loom» σε επιμέλεια της @vicky_pistachio στο @anogeiaweavinghouse στο πλαίσιο του @anyfadoofestival , ανοίγει έναν ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέροντα διάλογο γύρω από τη θέση της υφαντικής και της χειροτεχνίας στη σύγχρονη καλλιτεχνική δημιουργία. Η Μαρία Ελευθερία Καλλέργη, η Βάλια Καπελετζή, η Δήμητρα Κωνσταντινίδη, η Ειρήνη Ξανθιώτη και η Ερμιόνη Συρογιαννοπούλου προσεγγίζουν το νήμα, το ύφασμα, την τεχνική και την ύλη μέσα από πέντε διαφορετικές εικαστικές γλώσσες. Λινό, μαλλί, καλάμι, σύρμα, λατέξ και κέντημα μετατρέπονται σε μέσα έρευνας και έκφρασης γύρω από τη φροντίδα, το σώμα, την ταυτότητα και τη σχέση του ανθρώπου με τον τόπο. Τα The Seesaw, Culture Travels και The Weight of Care της @dimitrakonstantinidi_ , το Έκδυμα της @ma.kall.e , τα Enfolding και Interwoven της @valiakap , το Μνήμον της @hermione_syrogiannopoulou και η σειρά ο συριγμός του μασουριού II της @eirinix_ συνθέτουν μέσα στον χώρο μια συνομιλία ανάμεσα στη δεξιοτεχνία, το υλικό και τη σύγχρονη εικαστική σκέψη. Όσο περισσότερο εμβαθύνω στον κόσμο της χειροτεχνίας, τόσο περισσότερο με ενδιαφέρει αυτή ακριβώς η διάστασή της. Η τεχνική ως γνώση, το υλικό ως πεδίο έρευνας και η ανθρώπινη δεξιότητα ως αφετηρία για νέες μορφές δημιουργίας. Ένας ολόκληρος τρόπος σκέψης που εξακολουθεί να εξελίσσεται και να διεκδικεί τη θέση του στον σύγχρονο πολιτιστικό διάλογο. Χαίρομαι ιδιαίτερα που το Κέντρο φιλοξενεί αυτή τη συνάντηση και ευχαριστώ θερμά τη @niki_xylouri την @elena_ntosa , την @olga.kallergi και ολόκληρη την ομάδα του Φεστιβάλ Ανυφαντού, καθώς και όλες τις καλλιτέχνιδες για τη δημιουργική τους παρουσία. Θερμές ευχαριστίες επίσης στον @municipalityofanogeia και στην @creteregion για την υποστήριξη της διοργάνωσης, και την Αντιπεριφερειάρχη Πολιτισμού @georgia_milaki , για τη συμβολή και τη σταθερή παρουσία της σε δράσεις που ενισχύουν τη σύγχρονη πολιτιστική δημιουργία στην Κρήτη.
