Alas, it is my last day at Farm to Pantry! A former board member & friend informed me that I am F2P’s longest serving staff member with 6 years under my belt.

I feel proud of my contributions and what I help build. I learned so much and made so many meaningful connections and friendships, along the way.

I will always treasure my time as Duskie’s work wife and the swelling in my heart I got being directly involved with food justice. Sharing healthy food for free seems so simple, but it takes a lot of coordination and a team & community who care—from the farmer or gardener to the volunteer driver.

I had so many heart-warming moments…the lady waiting in the driveway for “me” when I brought farmers’ market surplus, being called an angel at the gospel mission, the little boy running from the playground to get an orange…ALL of it made the grueling hours of grant writing SO worth it.

I know I will still be around and able to volunteer, but it will be different; it is the end of a season, one that I put my all into. Thank you, Melita, Bruce, Doug, Sandi, Kathy, Katie, Michael, Viveka & Tucker for hiring me and giving me this rich and full chapter in my life!

And for my curtain call, I offer my final corny veggie tagline:

SQUASH HUNGER!!! 🥗🥒

What a wonderful display of nature today, whilst we gleaned turnips and radishes with our new friend Aislyn, a journalist from AFAR publication. The Tokyo white turnips were not spicy at all - tasted sweet and juicy, almost like a little melon. Thanks to the storm, the Russian River came up to greet us the gates of the farm, and the rain on the greenhouse roof was hypnotic. Thank you, Front Porch Farm and Mother Nature for making the experience of gathering food for others even MORE rewarding! #foodjustice #gleaninwithf2p

A glimpse of our new Farms to Snack program: 66 students at Healdsburg Elementary, 5-7 years old, got to make lemon curd together with a FoodNetwork celebrity chef. As heard on First Avenue, “We love this food!”

Eat a citrus fruit every day. It gives you your vitamin C for the day to boost your immune system. Sonoma County is decorated with it right now! #gleaninwithf2p #foodjustice #nutritionmatters
