Thani Abdulrahman is an environmental activist, youth leader, and co-founder of Friends of Nature, Tanzania. Driven by empathy, purpose, and action, he believes that positive change starts when young leaders take active responsibility for their ecosystems and communities.

A classroom presentation introducing the Roots and Shoots program became the inspiration for a young boy’s chosen life of volunteering and community action. For Thani, Jane Goodall’s legacy became a movement, one that led him to dedicate his life to advocating for marine ecosystem protection, livestock health, and participating in youth advocacy.

He @thaniabdulrahman is a shining light of this generation, ‘Years of the African Youth,’ and his journey shows that confidence isn’t something you are born with but something you build. From shy student to environmental leader, Thani has shown that growth begins the moment you step out of your comfort zone and choose to serve a purpose larger than yourself.

Swipe through to learn more about what got him started on this awesome journey and the major lesson he hopes to leave with others who wish to learn from his life and work.
