Guyana Energy Conference 2026 Recap

Just wrapped an incredible few days at the Guyana Energy Conference, and one thing is clear: Guyana is no longer a country of potential… it is a country of execution.

From energy and infrastructure to mining, logistics, housing, and workforce development, the conversations were focused on one thing, building a sustainable economy that benefits generations to come.

As a member of the diaspora, hearing the national call to return home and contribute hit differently. The opportunities are real, but more importantly, the responsibility is real.

I had the opportunity to connect with government leaders, investors, innovators, and builders who are actively shaping Guyana’s future.

This is more than oil and gas.
This is about:

✅ Economic diversification
✅ Local participation
✅ Investment partnerships
✅ Nation building

Excited about the next phase and the role we will play in contributing to Guyana’s growth.

🇬🇾 The future is being built now.

I’m thankful for the invitation from @_marksutcliffe to City Hall yesterday. It was an honour to sit in a room with community leaders and discuss the exciting developments happening in our city good and bad. The conversation was informative, and it was great making new connections with people who are equally committed to building our community. Moments like this remind me of the impact leadership can have when it brings people together. Excited for what’s ahead 2026. by @weggonallen

I attended the groundbreaking ceremony for @thenctlgroup Queen Mary Project in Overbrook, a 24-unit affordable housing development led by two incredible Black women, Nike and Carine.

What makes this even more special for me is that I grew up just a street over, at 298 Prince Albert. To stand there and witness this kind of legacy being built in the same neighbourhood that shaped me… it hit different.

Seeing these two women lead with vision, faith, perseverance and courage is beyond inspiring. They are redefining what’s possible in real estate, in community building, and for the AfroGlobal community as a whole. And I’m grateful to play even a small role working with them on this journey.

I can’t wait for you to hear their story and everything it took to finally get that shovel in the ground. Blessup Nike and Carine and all the contributors.

Had the opportunity to support my friend @mayaannik and watch her powerful feature documentary, BLACK ZOMBIE.

The film opened my eyes to the Haitian origins of the zombie and its deeper connections to slavery, colonialism, spirituality and resistance, long before Hollywood transformed it into what we know today.

Congratulations, @mayaannik and team, on creating such an important and thought-provoking film.

It’s showing again tonight at 9 p.m. at the Mayfair Theatre, so go check it out! 🎬👏🏾 taken in Mayfair Theatre by @weggonallen

TIFF MARKET 2026 — RECAP

Guyana made its first official presence at the TIFF Market, connecting with global film leaders, building new relationships, and exploring opportunities for collaboration, co-productions, training, and investment.

Being part of Guyana’s delegation at the TIFF MARKET was about much more than attending one of the world’s leading film events. It was an opportunity to represent our country, build meaningful international relationships, learn from an established global industry, and begin important conversations about what the future of film could look like in Guyana.

I’m grateful to the Government of Guyana and His Excellency President Irfaan Ali for supporting Guyana’s growing presence on the international stage.

My sincere appreciation to the Honourable Charles Ramson, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport; Ms. Tamika Boatswain, Director of Culture; and Mr. Ruel Johnson, for the opportunity, the conversations, and the shared commitment to exploring what is possible for Guyana’s creative sector.

Thank you as well to the Guyana Film Association and to every member of our delegation. We came from different backgrounds and experiences, but we represented one country and shared one important opportunity, to introduce more of the world to Guyana.

For me, one of the greatest takeaways from TIFF was seeing just how much potential exists at home. Our stories, culture, landscapes and people are uniquely Guyanese, and there is an opportunity to transform those assets into a sustainable industry that develops talent and creates opportunities for the next generation.

The relationships have started. The conversations have started.

Now comes the work of turning those conversations into something meaningful for Guyana. 🇬🇾 taken in Metro Toronto Convention Centre by @weggonallen

A few years ago, the industry strikes forced me to shut down Lenz Rental and Lenz Studio. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. I stopped everything, locked myself in my basement, and asked myself... what's next?

Out of that season of reflection came an idea, Venture For Guyana.

I told myself it was time to return to my homeland and contribute to its economic development. I’ve built many companies throughout my career, but this one is different. This one is being built with purpose, love, and a deep sense of responsibility. It is driven by a much bigger WHY.

I left Guyana at 14 and hadn't been back since. When I landed on January 2, 2026, I had a vision but no network.

So I showed up to the Guyana Energy Conference & Supply Chain Expo, and talked to nearly 100 people in four days, telling myself; "I only need one person to see the vision."

Then I met Mr. @seshsukhdeo. From our first conversation, our visions aligned, and what started as a conversation became a partnership that accelerated my journey by years.

On June 18th 2026, that partnership produced our first major events. The Global Growth & Commerce Summit and the launch of the AI, Blockchain & Cybersecurity Alliance. The energy, the feedback, the people who flew in to explore real investment in Guyana, it was everything. The events were a tremendous success.

To @seshsukhdeo, thank you for pushing me forward.

Thank you to everyone who travelled to be with us, including the international and local investors who came to explore investment opportunities and review projects in Guyana.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and expertise to making this event a success. Your support and commitment are deeply appreciated.

When you believe in yourself, anything is possible. This is only the beginning. Blessup.

Wealth generation isn't just about ambition, it's about access. And in a world where opportunities move fast, falling behind is easier than ever if you don't have the right tools and connections.

At the Global Growth & Commerce Summit, Co-Founder Sesh Sukhdeo opened the conversation by reminding attendees that technology has leveled the playing field, giving everyone a real shot at opportunities that once felt out of reach.

Building on that idea, Rosalinda Rasul, Head of the Diaspora Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, laid out three guiding principles for the session, and for anyone serious about building wealth:

✅ The right conversations: Surround yourself with dialogue that pushes you toward growth, not just small talk.

✅ The right people: Your network can open (or close) doors. Choose connections that align with your goals.

✅ The right interests: Passion and purpose fuel sustainable success. Know what truly drives you.

Together, Sesh and Rosalinda set the stage for a powerful afternoon of insight at the Summit, offering a simple but effective framework anyone can apply to their own path toward financial growth and opportunity.

Attended @econome_business for the first time, and it felt like a movement. The biggest takeaway was the message to “Swim Different” stop competing in crowded spaces and start creating unique opportunities. Conversations centered around innovation, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, strategic thinking, and building businesses that create long-term value. Great job to the organizing team 👏🏾👏🏾 taken in Four Points by Sheraton Georgetown by @weggonallen
