The earliest written mention of a wine that was specifically identified as being produced from these soils can be traced back to 1521.

Château Quintus is a prestigious 45-hectare Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Established in 2011 by Domaine Clarence Dillon (owners of Château Haut-Brion), the estate was created from the merger of historic vineyards Château Tertre Daugay and Château L’Arrosée.

Roman Roots: The name “Quintus” translates to “the fifth” in Latin. It pays homage to the Gallo-Roman tradition of naming their fifth child, and represents Domaine Clarence Dillon’s fifth wine estate.

Historic Estates: The core of the property is built on the grounds of Château Tertre Daugay, a classified growth founded in the mid-18th century, and the famed Château L’Arrosée, which was absorbed into the estate in 2013.

The Dillon Legacy: American financier Clarence Dillon attempted to purchase a Saint-Émilion vineyard in 1936. That ambition was finally realized 65 years later by his great-grandson, Prince Robert of Luxembourg, who formed Château Quintus.

Situated on a spectacular 62-meter-high limestone promontory, the estate offers 360-degree views of the UNESCO World Heritage village of Saint-Émilion and the Dordogne valley. The vineyard spans 45 hectares (with 42 hectares under vine), planted with roughly 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc. The estate is famously guarded by a large bronze dragon sculpture crafted by Mark Coreth, which overlooks the vineyards from the ancient watchtower (Tour de Guet).

@banfiofficial is one of the most famous wineries in Tuscany and one of the producers that helped make Brunello di Montalcino internationally renowned. The estate is located in the hills of Montalcino, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and forests covering more than 2,800 hectares.

The winery was founded in 1978 by the American-Italian brothers John Mariani and Harry Mariani, owners of the wine importing company Banfi Vintners in New York. Their vision was to create a world-class winery in Montalcino while preserving the traditions of Tuscan winemaking.

Banfi became a pioneer in research on the Sangiovese grape, working on clonal selection and vineyard management to improve the quality and consistency of Brunello di Montalcino wines.

Among wine enthusiasts, Castello Banfi is regarded as a reliable and consistent producer of Brunello. Its wines are widely available worldwide and are often recommended as an excellent introduction to the Brunello category while still offering bottles capable of aging for decades.
